Persecution complex

There are places in the world that do not have religious freedom like we do in the US.
I thought we could discuss real persecution, and the phenomena of persecution complex.

For example, Tibetans are not free to practice Buddhism in China. To be caught by police with a photo of the Dalai Lama is to risk jail or imprisonment. What are your thoughts?

What's real persecution and what isn't?

Yes, you are right. Many people have never known the sort of freedom we have here. I'd say long term imprisonment, etc. all constitute persecution. What goes on in the US is nowhere near that.

I have a niece who is an evangelical christian, and who visited Nepal on a mission to convert people. When she got home, she told me people were arrested if found with Bibles, etc. and I didn't believe her. Turns out, this is quite true.
