Notably, the new survey found a historically high share of Americans—some 57%—believe the government should do more to solve problems and help people, compared with 39% who said the government is doing too many things better left to business and individuals. Democrats have long said government should do more to help people, but the new survey found other groups agreeing in larger numbers. Some 59% of independents said government should do more, up from 38% in late 2010, when the tea-party movement was growing. The percentage of Republicans calling for more government action grew to 28%, up 11 points.

You are blaming Trump for this or decades of expanded government and reliance on government for survival? Surely you don't believe citizen are more dependent on government because of Trump and his administration.

His decisions will hopefully have the exact opposite effect and people will be empowered to be independent and succeed or fail on their own merits.

After so many years of expansion of government in the lives of citizens to the point they are dependent. Discuss the entitlements that are commonly accepted now compared to such programs in the 1920's, 30's or even the 1980's. This centralized answer to everyones problems runs contrary to American values and what allowed America to be such a dominant global power.

Uh-huh, it should "solve problems" and "help people" but history has clearly demonstrated that it's both incapable and unwilling to do so, the only things government has ever demonstrated a competency for is slaughtering innocents, destroying individual liberty and wasting other peoples money in other words creating new problems and making old ones worse.

Imagine that. A bunch of bedwetters cant wipe their own ass

Remember this:

Four in ten young people can’t change a lightbulb and almost half confessed they have NEVER done it, poll reveals
Shocking poll reveals 40 per cent of young people can't change a lightbulb

NEARLY half of Brits aged between 18 and 24 have admitted that they have never changed a LIGHTBULB, a poll has found.

A survey of 2,000 Brits found that just over 40 per cent of those aged between 18 and 24 confessed they had never changed a bulb, and weren’t 100 per cent sure how to do it.

They confessed they didn’t know about the screw or bayonet fittings – and said they would get their parents to change the bulb, or have to look it up on Google.

The poll, by online tyre shop Tyre Shopper last week, also found that 53 per cent of Brits couldn’t change a flat tyre or put up shelf and 44 per cent had no idea how to unblock a loo.

A total of 63 per cent of 18-24-year-olds said they couldn’t fix a bike puncture.

Thanks, Trump!

Same poll folks who gave Hillary a 95% chance of winning.

British are bigger pussies than American pussies. By design, probably.

You don't understand how polls work, do you?

Doesn't surprise me. Whenever things go wrong, who do people look to? Government. Every. Single. Time.

Rightfully so.

Thanks, Trump!

Everyone has a good understanding of polls now. Take real opinions, and multiply the leftist opinion by 1.5 and publish it as fact.

We should let Natural Selection and Survival of the Fittest take care of those who want more government.

Thanks, Trump!

I didn't think so.

Big government isn't always good, but it isn't always bad, either. I think it really depends on the context of the situation, but government has helped a lot of people through its legislation and I'm thankful for what they've done.
