· Pennsylvania approves sharp increases for Obamacare plans.

Calling the increases “significantly higher than (she) would have liked,” Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller said in a conference call with reporters that the rate hikes were needed to keep insurers from abandoning the market completely.

“We were trying to make a one-time correction … we hopefully got these products to a place now where they are more accurately priced,” Miller said

so the plans were low, falsely low, in the beginning, and now everyone on these 'mandated' plans are going to take it in the ass.

We told those morons this shit wouldn't work, and it isn't, but guess what, they will demand, DEMAND, pure socialism, and have someone else pay for it.

Conservatives say that the ACA was designed and negotiated behind closed door, specifically excluding the private healthcare industry. This is a gigantic lie. This Pennsylvania law shows, that it is primarily the private insurance providers that cash in on the ACA.

The US healthcare sector is a closely controlled and consolidated "market". So, the ACA should be allowed to replace the private insurers. It is not and has never been a competitive free "market". Why does the ACA not replace the private insurers, like every other country has already done? Because Americans choose to kill half of their 401k/IRA investments into that phony private healthcare sector.

I still don't buy the number as being across the board.

I am no fan of Obamacare, but this looks like some kind of hyperbolic sillyness.

If this is at all true, it would have to be an isolated instance...otherwise....

People would be going batcrap crazy.

To reiterate, the 55% figure applies to only one insurer, Highmark, and it's the outlier, with the range being 32-55%. Others are less, if anything at all.

The OP was so dazzled by the 55% figure he didn't bother to read the article.

Do you realize how many times you and I actually agree on something, but you're so busy ignoring me you never notice? It's especially funny when I post something and, half an hour later, you post the identical thought, in different words, right after my post.

Good times!

b/c Americans choose freedom of tyranny.

socialism isn't working, as we told you morons it wouldn't

That is inaccurate. The 32-55% increases are only for one insurer, Highmark (perfect name).

Next time read the article before you post it.
so you are cool with a 32% increase b/c she only talked about 55%.i

leftist and math

I hate Obamacare, but this simply does not pass the smell test.

It may be some isolated instance, but you portray it as some kind "across the board' change.

Which I simply can't accept is the case.

many more aca outlets have failed across the country.

and it was supposed to keep costs down, which is didn't and isn't.

If one got an increase by saying it's going to leave; what will the rest do?

On the contrary, I'm appalled by the mendacity and/or lack of reading skills of the posters who start these threads. Here is a list of ALL the health insurers in Pennsylvania:

Top Health Insurance Plans in Pennsylvania

Highmark is only one of many. Highmark is the one that's demanding a 32-55% increase. And demanding it doesn't mean they'll get it. And if they do, what's to stop customers from switching insurers?

The OP interprets that as being ALL insurers in the state raising rates by 55%. It's either bad lying or incredible stupidity, or perhaps a mix of both.

so what makes you think the rest won't follow and get the increase?

The same thing that inspires mattress and electronics retailers to claim they'll "beat anyone's advertised price." I.e., those famous "market forces" you all are always touting.

??? There are no sane market forces in a regulated market.

There's no such thing as an unregulated market, except in some Randian fantasy.

And whenever I ask you how you'd fix the problem, all you can say is "Not what you said."

this does not occur when it's the government handing out our money.

just look at the cost of college. that's due to leftists giving them more and more and more, and now they want to pay an unlimited amount and call it 'free'.
