Paying my neighbors bills.

I wish you people would also remember that people helped each other and worked together all through history.

Why do you refuse to realize that the corporations actions are what caused this?

Where are the concequences for the corps who lied to people about their loans?

Your team bailed them out and refused to audit the money they handed them.

The bolded passage is the only part of this post that pertains to this topic...the rest is deflection.

Yes, people help people, but if you can't afford to stay in your home but can afford to rent...you don't need my help. You take your lumps for making a bad decision, rent for awhile using the money you were using on that exotic 'interest only' mortgage you signed, rebuild your credit and start again...just like all the other people who have been forclosed on for the last 200 years.

If the corporations lied to anyone, there is a system in place to adjudicate those claims...it's called civil court and if there is any evidence of it I am 100% positive there is a lawyer out there salivating at the prospect of taking on the class action suit. They are likely filming a "If we don't win, you pay nothing" commercial as I type this.

Don't distract the bitch with truth... it only enrages her more

I am 20 years old. Just starting my life out. I live within my means, and i don't purchase things ie. cars, HOUSES, boats, etc. etc. that I can't afford. And to hear about all these houses being forclosed because people decided to bite off more than they can chew, well call me a Redneck Republican, but its not my job to pay there bills. I would rather be considered a "Idiot Cowboy" who can pay his or her own bills rather than make millions of people pay them for me. I dont care that there trying to help people from there houses being forclosed, the point is, they should have spent a little more time going over there income, and making sure they could afford what they were doing. Instead they were worried about living in a classy more expensive neighborhood to look good. My parents spent 20 years of there life serving this country to then retire and now work for the government. Now at the age of 45, 48 after YEARS AND YEARS of hard work, they just bought there dream house. They waited this long, knowing that if they would have done it any earlier they couldnt have afforded it. My point is I dont want to, and shouldnt have to pay my neighbors bills. Its not my job, nor do I owe it to anyone. :eusa_snooty:

Just FYI - Be ready to be called selfish, uncaring, etc... Half of the people on this board won't understand your point of view... But, those are the people that need to be bailed out so take it for what's it's worth...

When your neighor's house is on fire, and is threatening to burn yours down with it, pitching to to put out the fire of their house, EVEN THOUGH THE FIRE IS ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT, still seems like a good idea to me.

But hey, I understand you basical complaint.

My house is not YET underwater, either.

You are forgetting one important thing: If your neighbor's house is burning you have the option to help put the fire out or not... That's called liberty. Obama is forcing us to put the fire out... Big difference!

Eliot Spitzer - Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime - washingtonpost.com

Several years ago, state attorneys general and others involved in consumer protection began to notice a marked increase in a range of predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders. Some were misrepresenting the terms of loans, making loans without regard to consumers' ability to repay, making loans with deceptive "teaser" rates that later ballooned astronomically, packing loans with undisclosed charges and fees, or even paying illegal kickbacks. These and other practices, we noticed, were having a devastating effect on home buyers. In addition, the widespread nature of these practices, if left unchecked, threatened our financial markets.

Even though predatory lending was becoming a national problem, the Bush administration looked the other way and did nothing to protect American homeowners. In fact, the government chose instead to align itself with the banks that were victimizing consumers.

It was nearly every states attorney General who joined Spitzer in this attempt.

That is why Spitzer was targeted for investigation.

That should not have happened either. Bernanke just gladly called all this;with a smile on his face; a public and private partnership as opposed to nationalization or socialism, that's called Fascism. Corporate Fascism is a term I use when explaining all this crap.

predatory lending is a myth.....

no one was EVER, EVER, EVER FORCED to sign a mortgage paper.... EVER!

Its what the elite do.

They rob the little people and then blame them and some numb nuts buy it which keeps the cycle going.

There are real reasons the Rich got so much richer and the poor increased in this country over the last eight years.

(((((((I agree with your post.

I am going to be a PITA about your grammar, though.

Bolded 'there' should be 'their' - possessive. "It is not my job to pay their bills".

Underlined 'there' should be 'they're' - contraction for 'they are'. "I don't care that they're trying to help people from their houses being foreclosed".

Since you posted that you were twenty and just starting out, I thought I'd just . . . help. No offensive intended. )))))))))))

HAHA! THANK YOU.

Thanks! I was hoping you'd take it in the spirit it was intended! Welcome!! :D

Then read the article and realize it does exsist.

The FBI thinks it exsists too.

49 of the states AG joined Spitzer in his attempt and the Bush admin backed them down with their Fed powers. Now all the states are suffering the losses.

They cheated people and the proof is everywhere and you just close your eyes and pretend.

People get bent out of shape talking about this kind of stuff, and thats why nothing ever gets solved, because no one sees the other side point of view (including me at some points) But thats what makes us unique.

I know you were talking about my Grammer..lol. but it go to say about everything else.

I have behaved completely resposibly throughput my life. I have positioned myself as best as anyone could for this mess. I told people all through the Bush housing inflation that they cause to NOT take money out of their home, to not buy expensive cars and to save, save, save. That being said I am willing to do what is nessessary to fix this problem for many reasons.

1. I care about my fellow Americans.
2. I care about the long term viability of my country.
3. I care that childern will be living on the streets.
4. I care about the economy being pushed to a point that we will remain a weak third world type country while Countries like China and Russia will emerge before we do and OWN the world markets because they were willing to invest back in their own countries and we werent.
5. I care about the infrastructure of this country crumbling to the extent that we are not able to compete when the world economy does emerge.
6. I care that many of these people (fellow Americans) you chose to hate were actually lied to by their lending institution.

When will you people stop hating your fellow American long enough to pull together and do what NEEDS to be done to fix this country?

you're a socialist aren't you

I dont need perfect grammer from you , I need a respect for the facts.

This problem was created by a lending industry that went unregulated by the government.

It is nearly entirely the republican partys fault.

There is nothing fucking socialist in that post.

It would seem that Truthmatters is one of those emotional delusional types? It's always the same garbage. I am surprised someone like him hasn't shot Bush yet. I dunno how someone can go off the road like he seems to.

As regards the topic - may as well get over it Rachael, as a majority of Americans somehow decided that someone other than you knew how to spend more of your money better than anyone else. I say more, because they've always spent your money.

Unless you decided to work in a tax-free zone (I can only think a couple, and I dunno if the money is worth it, that's for certain), you're going to have people riding on your coattails, educated (I use that word loosely given today's public schools - more money thrown at failures doesn't always make it succeed obviously) by your money, and then have their asses wiped with toliet paper you paid for, in a house you'll always be renting for them.

Perhaps I am pessimistic, but frankly, I think a new reality has dawned upon most of the American public without them realizing it, yet other people have gone down this road (such as Europe) and it hasn't helped them at all from what I can see.

Europe reached the point where they decided to delegate personal responsibility to the gov't years ago, and the good it has gotten them? They also discovered that they can vote themselves benefits. That there, is the problem we just had, and failed to answer it correctly. Now, everyone gets money, everyone gets bailed out, and we just spent more money than all the previous wars in which the US has been engaged during the 20th century, plus, at StimulusWatch on the internet, go ahead and look where money is going. I notice to alot of liberal districts on there. And the only politicians that will get in office, are those who often have a tendancy to promise more money, and solidify their finiancial control over people, such as the elderly, and whomever else ever relies on welfare forever. It's a snowball effect requiring a massive societal change, which I don't think will happen.

Since we're doing it after watching the results of everyone else doing it, it's obvious that this is a natural phenomenon for mankind. I'm all about letting people fall by the wayside if they fail at life, in that we maintain the type of dynamic society that got us this far, even if I somehow fall myself. But I guess that isn't morally right according to the Annointed One, liberals in Congress (lead by those fucking weasels Pelosi and Reid), and your average liberal airhead. Nor the people who has raging Bush-Hate syndrome.

So, in the end Rachael, there is nothing you can do about it really, but all it does, it get bigger, and more costly.

Hope I didn't ruin life for you. I've got about 50 years left myself, and it might be interesting.
