It looks to me from the article that Dr Viner did NOT say "thing of the past". He said that "in a few years" snowfall could become a "very rare and exciting event".

And please tell us what this has to do with the science? Were the IPCC conclusions based on the comments of Dr Viner? Is the London Independent a refereed science journal?
