your dreams
Something needs to be done about the faulty business practices that led to the crisis in the financial institutions! And that something is less oversight!

Yup, too much government regulation is why Lehman went belly-up. :cuckoo:

She really said that? I know that's a common right wing belief, but...

For the first 3 minutes or so she talks about all the things they'll fix that are to blame for the poor economy & bank crisis. Things that of course cannot be affected without government regulation. Then she panders to the local crowd for about three minutes talking about the Broncos & Avalanche. Then she gets back on the economy, saying they're gonna "shake things up"... by of course getting "the government out of the way of private sector progess."

Wow, you're right, that's exactly what she said. She and McCain are going to reform corporate America by getting out of their way.

:cuckoo:

The bit about ethics reform was pretty funny as well, since she's stonewalling an investigation and using a private email account to do government business.

heh, real openness in government platform, that.

McCain has been trying to privatize Social Security for years.

If he had been successful, we would all have 9% less money today than we did on Friday.

you know, this speech might seem a little more believable if she weren't on the ticket with a guy whose been IN WASHINGTON for 26 years and who has faught for deregulation of the financial institutions for his entire career.

she comes across as one of those dolls that has a string in her back that you pull and she spits out bullshit

He was against government regulation (as recently as last week) before he was for it (following the Lehman bankruptcy).

It is pretty funny how the timing of McCain's "fundamentals of the economy are still strong" statement came days before the biggest dow selloff since 9/11 and the biggest bank crisis in history.
