Private insurers spend about 12.2 percent on administrative costs and profits.
the Urban Institute, assumes that would fall to 6 percent under single-payer,
as that’s what Medicare spends now.
Warren assumes it will fall to 2.3 percent, as that’s what Medicare’s single-payer program pays now —
the higher number includes the private plans in Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D.
That saves $1.8 trillion.
Elizabeth Warren’s plan to pay for Medicare-for-all, explained
My Goodness how grossly ignorant Warren and the Urban Institute are of this one simple fact:
Medicare currently doesn't PROCESS or PAY 1 single claim of the over 1 billion claims filed by
Medicare providers. NOT one!
These FOR-Profit companies have tens of thousands of employees that process these claims.
In 2011 the below companies processed 1.188 BILLION claims...under contract with Medicare.
Again Medicare processes NO claims... these companies do!
Noridian HealthCare Services...Home - Noridian
Wisconsin Physician Services, https://www.wpshealth.com/index.shtml
CGS Administrators, LLC (CGS) CGS Medicare
Novitas Solutions, Inc., (Novitas) https://www.novitas-solutions.com/webcenter/portal/NovitasSolutions
National Govt. Services, https://ngsservices.com/ngs/
Palmetto GBA, Palmetto GBA
First Coast Service Options First Coast Services Options, Inc. - The Leader In Medicare Administration
Wallet Card - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

So the point is Warren et.al. think Medicare is operating right now at 6% and would drop to 2.3% of total revenue. WRONG you dummies!
The above "private-for profit" companies would be out of business and the hundreds of thousands of employees GONE! Totally ignorant about how Medicare works NOW and it is totally managed by
the above for profit companies!!!
