They were not brilliant. They conquered and took what other brilliant civilizations had. They are a cruel and completely intolerant religion that murder to force their ways upon those that are weaker. Intolerant and completely dictatorial in philosophy and in action. A curse upon mankind that will soon bring another world war if not held in check. They will not be held in check is my prediction. Which means they will be the primary cause of WW3.
I disagree. They were indeed brilliant thinkers, although as Irose stated, not always original thinkers. Nontheless, their contributions to philosophy & literature were immence, even in todays world.

They aren't the same people. The muslims of today are just desert savages who just happen to call themselves muslims. They are in no way the inheritors of the educated culture that preceded them.
