This has always been one of my 5 favorite WW2 stories. That pilot is amazing and put on one of the greatest flying feats of all-time. The entire crew was unbelievable and true fucking heroes. When you get a MoH as a pilot that's saying something. And the man who returned to his gun after he was mortally wounded is as bad as a man as it gets. It's what we do. Glad to see they gave him the MoH too. 2 MoHs on a flying mission is unheard of. So is a B-17 fighting off 17 fighters. Unreal.
