OK - Now We're Paying About the Same for Gas as in Japan??

Something odd here. When I lived in Japan - late 90s, gas was about 3 times what it was in the U.S. They charge by the litre there.

I just checked gas prices in Japan - it's right around $4.25 a gallon - unless I got a bad link. That's about what they're getting in metro D.C.

WTF???

Japan/Europe always higher than U.S. Now we're paying what they're paying?

it is called globalization, free trade, etc. We sell alaska oil to Japan I do believe.
