So, in 1970 10% of all births occurred outside of wedlock. Today, more than 40% do.

This is a major social change that has far-reaching consequences.

The leftist Marxist agenda of undermining the traditional family seems to be bearing fruit. They will find out how bitter that fruit really is.

It also turns out that the fertility rate in the US is falling fast. Most dramatically in urban areas.

This and the OP must surely be related.

Remember: THE PILL became generally available and used in about 1970. We were told that this scientific breakthrough would mean NO MORE UNWANTED CHILDREN! Then in 1973, abortion became generally available. So even if one got pregnant in spite of easy contraception, the problem could be taken care of.

From that point on, there was no reason EVER to have a child one didn't want, or couldn't provide for. And see how that has worked out.

God's solution is to confine reproductive activity to married people, and to respect marriage.

Man's solution to scientific development to allow unlimited reproductive activity WITH NO NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES.

Which works better?

God's way.
