Is anyone here keeping up with the OpenOffice, LibreOffice war? I've read a lot of articles with associated responses and from what I've been able to glean from it is mostly a shitload of ego issues combined with the small core of open source only purist fanatics creating issues where none really should exist.

From what I understand Libre is OpenOffice without font issues.

It's the core development defectors who had issues with Oracle after they bought Sun Microsystems who produced OpenOffice and made some of it fee based. Then Oracle donated OpenOffice base code to Apache instead of their foundation for LibreOffice.
The real issue is there's so much back and forth bickering online it detracts from the actual work on fixing the few compatibility issues with Microsoft Office that would make both a much more viable option to replace MS office.
Currently it's the Windows users who mostly use Open Office and the Linux people who use LibreOffice.
