Every two years, we get a new congress, and the new congress is not bound by any promises made by the last congress. When any politician tells you there will be spending cuts, three years, five years, or ten years down the road, he is either lying or ignorant of our system of government.
No future congress is going to bite the bullet and implement a spending cut that the current congress has not had the courage to implement.
The only way to ensure that spending cuts go forward, is to eliminate or change the programs that are getting the funding.
Politicians, especially Democrat politicians, always want to back load spending cuts, six, eight, and ten years down the road, while ensuring that tax increases take place immediately. They want credit for spending cuts that will never take place.
If you listen to that 08 Obama; it sounds almost nothing like 12 Obama.
