I don't recall of the top of my head exactly what or who was taxed by Wilson's income tax; it was a very small tax, much like SS when it began, but you're correct with regard to the Framer's of the US; their position was simply that no man has a right to the product of another man's labor and they were exactly right.

The Income tax came along with the US Progressive Movement; which was part and parcel of the "Third Way" European Advocacy of Social Science AKA: Fascism. President Wilson, the first Academic President, was of the mind that the notion of individual human rights was a fantasy and fully believed that the protections of human rights enumerated in the US Constitution were only valid where they served the collective.

Wilson was a leftist and the simple fact is, as I've said many times: THERE ARE NO LEFTIST AMERICANS. The singular distinction between the American notion of democracy and all of the others which have long since failed or are in the process of failing is that America stood wholly upon the bed rock principles of God given individual human rights and their inherent responsibilities. What is indisputable, is that left-think is a simple function of intellectual limitations which prevent the leftists from being able to comprehend the distinction between fairness and equality.

The irony is that the ideological left is the most lethal ideology in human history with no close second; having in the last half of the 20th century alone (now I'm speaking of PEACE TIME, this does NOT include the two world wars and dozens of regional wars they started) murdered 150 million people and there is no force in nature which killed more people in the same period than did the same ideology which has brought a Socialist Muslim as candidate for President, only 7 years after the US was attacked by a Muslim Socialist.

Now if they are willing to do THAT, sir, do you really think they give a happy damn about your individual right to the product of your labor?

Now the bad news is that John McCain couldn't care less either... but at least he's a national socialist... who isn't much better, but given no option, one can't just let the left place a Muslim Socialist in office a few short years after 9-11.
