Only a complete moron would support letting the government control their own health care. Additionally, what right does gov. have forcing taxpayers to subsidize 30 million uninsured? In essence, the government is a looter & the president a despot.

Only an evil prick would allow healthcare to become too unaffordable for most of the citizens.

After seven years of promising to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Republican efforts at passing a health care bill on their own may have ended Monday night as the bill working its way through the Senate was effectively blocked. Two more GOP senators – Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas – came out in opposition to the bill, which means it cannot get enough support to pass.

Every other country has socialized healthcare for all their citizens. So the rest of the world are complete morons? Or maybe just you?

The next step for republicans is a repeal with no replacement. That's very unlikely to get through the Senate. Insurance companies would drop out of the individual healthcare market all over the county. The CBO report would project 18 million losing insurance in the first year and 32 million in less than 10 years.

Why isn't there one company willing to step in and take all that business????

Insurance companies are like banks. They are risk adverse. Their actuaries determine the risks based on their risk pool. Rates are negotiated with their healthcare providers, and premiums are determine. However with required coverage, the makeup of the risk pool, revenues from the goverment, and a thousand other details yet to be determined in the new law and the move to repeal Obamacare with no replacement makes the safest path for insurers is to walk away until the government decides what the rules are going to be. This of course is being aggravated by the president threatening to not enforce the individual mandate and to withhold certain payments to insurers. The latest comment from Trump on healthcare was, "let Obamacare fail". With the future of individual insurance market dependent on the whims of the president and a deeply divide republican congress, insurers have good reason to take to the sidelines.

There is a good chance that Republican claims that Obamacare will collapse may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Two insurers in our state recently announced they will not be selling individual plans in 2018 due to the unsettled future of the individual healthcare market.
