very sad that it has come down to this...yeah i know it MAY be happening on both sides and it is VERY deplorable that it does but it seems most rampant with those against reform

A 65-year-old man rallying in favor of healthcare reform was knocked to the ground by a man who disagreed with the call for a government-run health plan outside of a Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce meeting headlined by Sen. Bill Nelson.

Luis Perrero of Coral Gables was standing among about 40 Democratic activists and union workers when a man in a Ford pick-up truck pulled up to the rally at Jungle Island and began arguing with the crowd.
The man, who only gave his first name as Raul, said Perrero called him a Spanish curse word. He punched Perrero in the face. Perrero fell to the ground and lay motionless for a few minutes
.

he may have cursed at him or not..no one knows but that still did not warrant a face punch...show some decorum people sheesh!
"I'm amazed the way this has become such a politicized issue,'' Perrero said, while still sitting on the ground but sitting up. "It shows that people who are against the public option will resort to anything, including battery on a senior citizen to prevent healthcare reform.''

Wilhelmina Ford, another healthcare reform proponent at the rally, said, "It was totally uncalled for. The guy may have had words with him but he didn't have to hit him in the face.''

Fire rescue responded to the scene, where a Herald reporter was present.

So if the report in your link is true and the person in the orange shirt is our elderly man, presently sans finger, he was"agressively" "shooing" her, an interloper from across the street back to her own side, where few would disagree, she belonged.

I see. Another duncebucket who thinks he owns the sidewalk.

"One petite woman was also handing out single payer flyers. She was passionate about it, but not rude, not mean, always smiled, and simply offered the flyer. At some point, she crossed back over (she may have run out of her flyer supply. I don't know for sure. But she was not in any way confrontational.)

All of a sudden, I saw a very tall man in an orange shirt (yes, he is in the photo I linked you to) confront her, verbally at first. Her back was to the thruway, and he was shooing her, approaching her, speaking to her in a very aggressive fashion (observation from body language only) and waving his arms in a shooing motion. With each step she took back, he took one forward, shooing her more. From where I was, it appeared as though he were telling her to get on her own side of the street, and backing it up with a very clear physical threat. Even from where I stood, it chilled me. I pointed it out to others and called out for anyone with a video camera to aim it over there. (I had a small Nikon cam with me that does video, but it would have been useless in that light.)"

Funny how Mr. Bush guy didn't mention the previous altercation orangeshirt 9-digit guy had just had with the petite woman.

Even a duncebucket should understand that when there are competing protests, going into the space of the opposing group is tantamount to inviting conflict which under emotions can escalate into violence, and when some of those are so obsessed as to be fanatical, even mahem may occur; and it did.

Interesting; now do we impugn the testimony of people because they have the same name of a president you hate [/s] DESPISE?
Are you going to impugn this 'testimony?'

MOMocrats™: Health Care Vigil in Thousand Oaks: My side of the story

I heard the Interview too. It was good and informative. This Man played an instrumental part. he will benefit both sides.

Here’s a transcript of a call to Mark Steyn, stand-in host for the Rush Limbaugh show Thursday September 3

Mark Steyn: Scott apparently you were at this rally

Witness - Scott Bush: Yeah, yes, I was right there when it happened

MS: And how did this scuffle develop?

SB: Well we were on our side which was right next to the Oaks Mall, there on the adjacent corner. We were standing on the curb...on the sidewalk and this gentleman from the other side, from the Obama side came across the street, over the island which is...anyway...and approached us, and while standing in the street ....passed through traffic, yelled at us and said “are you for a public option....are you against the public option?” We said “no”

MS: Those are fighting words

SB: Right... he started it, exactly...and then we all said no...and he walked directly to the elderly man who...you know...without taking anything away from him...you know...he wasn’t, he was...you know...he was not very...He kind of targeted him.
He went to that elderly man. He went up to him and said “why are you not for the public option? The elderly man said that “I don’t want the government involved in anything that effects me” and uh...then the Obama gentleman said.....he got even closer kind of like a baseball coach gets to an Ump...you know. right after .....this he said “You’re an idiot” so he aggressed him. He got real close, you know right up, you know well within three feet...he was standing...I want to make this clear, he was standing in the street while we were on the sidewalk...he aggressed him, got...

MS: He threw the first punch did he..?

SB: Well it was....he was pointing at him, and he got right in his face...it was very threatening because he'd crossed the street in an unpredictable way

MS: Not the best way to do it in Los Angeles in my experience...but he got in his face, and how did the old guy respond?

SB: Well the old guy, this gentleman, the elderly gentleman, was trying to uh...kind of defend himself... and it wasn’t ...I would call it a defensive strike, because this gentleman, it wasn’t...because this gentleman, there was no...it was very unpredictable the way he approached him. So the Obama gentleman grabbed him, and pulled him into the street, and then the scuffle started, and just about as quick as it started it basically ended and the old man grabbed his hand, and blood started coming, and I walked up to him, and he's like...”He bit my finger off!” We got him up on the sidewalk...

MS: Who, who lost the finger?

SB: The elderly gentleman.

MS: So it was the...L.A. Times misreported it in characteristic fashion by saying that in fact it was the pro-Obama guy who'd lost his finger and it turned out it was the, in fact it was the pro-Obama guy who bit off the anti-Obama guy’s finger.

SB: Yeah...

MS: The anti-Obama guy lost the finger.

ROFL, that is one of the SADDEST attempts to rationalize assault and battery that I've ever heard.

Calling someone an "idiot" and being in their vicinity is NOT, I repeat, NOT a legal reason for assault and battery.

The gentleman who lost a finger should be in jail. Period.

This is one of those rare times we agree.

Cavuto Interview With Grand Pa Victim.

Ventura County Star: William Rice, 65, of Newbury Park also confirmed reports that he threw the first punch in the confrontation that claimed part of his left pinky.

Editor's note: Bill Rice joined The B-Cast during our live webcast Thursday afternoon. The extended interview, including a more detailed account of the circumstances -- and the surprise reason Rice was really at the scene (it wasn't about health care), can be found in the related links section below.

And it shows that, as I predicted, all the hate talk from the right is inciting violence.

That's two assaults by anti-healthcare protestors and counting.

No it doesn't. In your Utopia, everyone is free to agree with you, all opposition is labeled hate speech. In the real world, we agree to disagree. Thought and speech is not Licensed by you or me, you fail to accept that, you fail yourself. Behavior is the issue here, not speech. Both sides bear responsibility. The Greater fault is with the man whom bit. If he has HIV or Aids, he should spend the rest of his life in Jail. William Rice showed maturity and responsibility by admitting that he threw the first punch. William Rice Failed to learn a lesson, in that he said he would do it all over again. Keep Violence as far away from Peaceful Protest as you can. We All will live to regret the alternative.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what the hell you're even trying to imply.

1. I'm not black.

2. How does a riot caused by hate-speech and rhetoric not prove my point?
