(If true, total complete meshugenah! The man is totally insane and wholly oblivious to history. Apparently this would be the icing on the cake for Obama, after cutting and running from Iraq, transferring the Gitmo detainees to Taliban custody is promises kept.
This is exactly why after WWII ended, the Allies insisted on the Nuremburg trials, because when WWI ended the Western Allies left the handling of the German War Crimes to the Weimar Republic, and the Weimar Republic simply didn't. The world got WWII instead.
Obama has to go, NOW! Don't worry Obamabots, MTV, VH1 and Nickolodian will still support him despite the sound of many more jetliners crashing into major American structures)

"Reuters— After 10 months of secret dialogue with Afghanistan’s Taliban insurgents, senior U.S. officials say the talks have reached a critical juncture and they will soon know whether a breakthrough is possible, leading to peace talks whose ultimate goal is to end the Afghan war.

As part of the accelerating, high-stakes diplomacy, Reuters has learned, the United States is considering the transfer of an unspecified number of Taliban prisoners from the Guantanamo Bay military prison into Afghan government custody.

It has asked representatives of the Taliban to match that confidence-building measure with some of their own. Those could include a denunciation of international terrorism and a public willingness to enter formal political talks with the government headed by Afghan President Hamid Karzai."

The President should have all options available on the table in negotiating. That said, he better have a damn good reason before he releases them.

Oh and it wasnt the lack of Punishment that created WW2. it was the overpunishment.

The Treaty of Versaille remains one of the biggest reasons for WWII.

That is one of Woodrow Wilson's biggest, of many, blunders. The fact is there are a number of things the US and especially the Brits could have dont to avoid war WW2.

Pride and a lack of forgiveness caused WW2. And it may cause WW3 someday too.

I wouldn't call it Wilson's blunder, as I don't believe he was in favor of heavy-handed reparations, but had to acquiesce to his allies or possibly lose his pet project, The League of Nations.

As soon as they give those Taliban prisoners back to Taliban or Afghan custody they will be re-activated, debriefed and sent back into the field to fight against us, any "negociations" with the Taliban are a joke and won't yield any successful results for us.

I think the Taliban will reward the prisoners and celebrate the stupidity, or just compliance, of Obama.

Obama has never taken sides, though it would be nice if he had a modicum of loyalty to the country he was elected to represent.

So, we should have kissed Germany's butt after world war one and said.. don't do that again"... sure thing dummies.

So, we pull out of Iraq completely. We basically give Iran a top secrete drone. Then we get kicked out of Pakistan. Then we draw down troops in Afghanistan. And finally we send the worst of the worst home.

Who's side is Obama working for again?

No matter what line of the sand you stand on releasing these prisoners into Taliban or even Afghan government custody is just stupid, the Taliban will celebrate the prisoners release and put them back into the field and the Afghan goverment will just release them to the Taliban anyways, and even if they don't release them the Taliban wil just break them out, this just tells me that Obama is in a hurry to get out of Afghanistan and is ok with just releasing these prisoners wherever.

That the million dollar question. As I said above, he appears not to take sides, though would be nice if he had a shred of loyalty to the country he is supposed to represent. He is doing the Taliban a huge favor by giving back their terrorists.

This makes it quite clear that Obama will do ANYTHING to appease his base in hopes of being reelected. Selling American lives for votes essentially.

Now this is what's truly funny. The current Afghan government is the SAME one that Bush and the Republicans put in place after they let Bin Laden go.

Anyone ask the detainees how they feel about this? Three squares a day, excellent medical care, and at least the prospect they might some day be tried and executed, thus validating their memberships to the famous 72 Virgins Club with access to those nearby rivers of wine for, fittingly, all eternity.

I dunno. Some of them might want to appeal to Barry to call this nonsense off.

Is he only going to give them the pick pockets and purse snatchers?

Idiot

That's also the same government thats going to pardon these folks when they get back to Afghanistan, take a bribe from the Taliban to release them, or just be incompetent and the Taliban will break them out of the Afghan governments custody, its happened before.
