Obama sells out National Security by releasing "classified" torture memo's

If your intention is not to protect the people of this country than you have absolutely NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY.

If your intention is not to protect the people of this country than you have absolutely NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY.

Murple,

I completely disagree. The president's job is to execute the office of the president. That doesn't mean selling out our constitution and principles on the grounds to protect citizens at all costs.

You weren't able to find anything about an oath to protect citizens at all costs like you said the President took, could you? I didn't think you could.

If your intention is not to protect the people of this country than you have absolutely NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY.

So then why didn't you bitch when Bush got hit on 9-11 despite all the warnings?

And why didn't you get mad when he let Obama escape from the Tora Bora mountains?

And Obama is protecting the people of this country.

We don't want to be tortured when we go abroad because of the acts of right wing lunitics.

If your intention is not to protect the people of this country than you have absolutely NO BUSINESS BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY.

And Bush should have used the tools of democracy to fight the war on terror. Not abondon our principles.

Principles! laugh laugh laugh.. your the party that takes babies and turns them around pulls them out feet first jabs scissors through their brains and then sucks them out.. princples!

Obama released these memos against the advise of 4 former CIA directors.

George Tenett a Clinton appointee who was a director for the CIA from July 1997- July 04 advised against this.

Leon Panetta, former Clinton white house chief of staff, CURRENT CIA director under President Obama advised against the release of these memo's.

He did it to appease the ACLU and move on dot.org and in so doing violated the trust of the American people and our Allies in this war on terror.

He sold us down the river for supposed political gain, and he has made a disastorous mistake in doing so. This will derail his agenda, a good thing in my view. However, he has put Americans at risk.

Liberals- there is no defending the defenseless, senseless move of this President.

So while all of you on the left are cheering your new President in his effort to win his "World wide popularity contest"--one has to wonder what else he is going to release that would jeopardise the National Security of this nation!

Calm yourself down little girl.

The fact that we waterboarded was well known before Obama released any documents.

Dick Cheney admitted we waterboared months ago. In public and on television.

We're you screaming like a little girl, when Cheney publically admitted he loved waterboarding? No, you didn't.

You're just a partisan hack, who is acting like the jealous ex-boyfriend, now that ameica has rejected your republican schemes of deregulation, tax cuts for oil companies, and unneccessary wars.

I could have sworn you have mentioned this once before ...

There really is no purpose in arguing with fascist wingnuts on the right who can justify in their minds torture as something Americans engage in and then attempt to hide. Seems the right wing fascists would give up the laws of the land over fear regardless of its legality. Losing power has the wingnuts in a frenzy. Sorry folks that's the way democracy works, sometime the good guys do win.

Good point.

Cheney indicated the Bush administration doesn't regard waterboarding as torture and allows the CIA to use it. "It's a no-brainer for me," Cheney said.

The Seattle Times: Nation & World: Cheney confirms waterboarding

The national security outrage for divulging this should be directed to Mr. Cheney, who beat the Obama administation by a couple years on divulging this "top secret" information.

You will be waiting for an eternity for the Bush lovers on this thread to express outrage that Cheney admitted in public that our government waterboarded, months before Obama ever released any documents

With Gitmo closing what will happen when terrorist suspects are captured in the future? Where will they go? Will Obama invite them to the WH for a chit-chat? After they are given a dish of coffee ice cream and are allowed to watch some tube, and the terrorists offer no intel - an dthey won't because they know this is all that will happen to them - will we just let them go? What happens when we get hit again? Will Obama merely turn the other cheek, Americans be damned?

If there is evidence they are terrorists, why don't they just try them and throw them in jail?

it's because no one wants them in their backyard. I will make a bet right now, Gitmo is not going to close because no one wants them. Their own countries don't want them back, they are troublemakers who are terrorists that kill innocent civilians. Americans don't want them in their prisons. It might have been a GOOD idea for Obama to have worked out the accomdations of these terrorists before announcing that he was going to close Gitmo. He is not a good proactive President, he flew over NY today with jet fighter planes and scared the Be-Jesus out of everyone.

Maybe he can put them up in a Motel eight near you.

What jail? No one wants them. Gitmo was designed for this but now it's scheduled to be closed. And when the terrorists offer no intel (even when we know they have it) because they now know that nothing 'harsh' will be done to them, they just get released?

We have gobs of them in the states. The maximum security pen at Levenworth would be fine.

I'm not in favor of releasing any terrorist, if they are terrorists. Convict them in a trial and lock them away.

Why should they release terrorists?

You must not care about human rights, due process, habius corpus, waaaaaa

Is it too hard to haul them in front of a judge and show your evidence? WAaaaaa!!

Or do you not have any fucking evidence?

Bush should be in Gitmo with these people, the treasonist prick.

And if you voted for him, you should have your taxes raised.

No one wants them; Gitmo was ideal for terrorists.

If terrorists have intel - and we know they have intel - on impending attacks/plans against the U.S., they will no longer give up this intel because they know no harsh interrogation methods will be used. They know this because Obama has told them this. When they do not give up this intel and we can no longer hold them, what happens to them? They are released. We've released terrorists in the past and they have gone on to kill other innocent lives. But you're fine with that, as long as they are treated with kid gloves.
