Economic panel says recession ended in June 2009

    By JEANNINE AVERSA
    AP Economics Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The longest recession the country has endured since the Great Depression ended in June 2009, a group that dates the beginning and end of recessions declared Monday.

The National Bureau of Economic Research, a panel of academic economists based in Cambridge, Mass., said the recession lasted 18 months. It started in December 2007 and ended in June 2009. Previously the longest post World War II downturns were those in 1973-1975 and in 1981-1982. Both of those lasted 16 months.

The NBER decision makes official what many economists have believed for some time, that the recession ended in the summer of 2009. But it won't make much difference to most Americans - especially the nearly 15 million without jobs.

    He is... THE MAN!

Now go ahead and tell those who are part of the almost 10% unemployment since how GREAT that News is!...

And of course, Obama is NOT Responsible for the Recession Ending in Last Year, but the Left can go ahead and say he is... Because Lying is like Breathing for them!

    :)

    peace...

So lets get this straight then.......
It was the Bush budget that ended the recession
But the budget was written by the Democratic Congress...but Bush still gets credit
But the 10% unemployment numbers are not Bush's responsibility
TARP and Stimulus had nothing to do with recovery

I'm so confused.... I wish you guys could get your story straight

Must have been his, "Mission Accomplished!" moment. So early in his administration too!

BTW, you can't convince me the recession is actually over... not by the way things are going for me that is.

Ya cause you and the left have not argued that 2009 was Bush's budget. Right? I mean YOU get your story right, either 2009 was Bush's budget or it was Obama's, which is it?

GDP feel the last two quarters of the Bush presidency and unemployed rose 5.5% to 7.4%. Bush left office in middle of worst credit crisis within the last 50 years or longer. I think Obama could have done quite well without this inheritance.
