Social Security is still totally broke.

We still overspend by over $100 Billion a month-- in a slow month, Democrats STILL have not presented a budget, but looks like the Republican "leadership" is going to cave and let Deadbeat Obama keep on over spending until he loses in a landslide in 2012.

Obama, Reid, McConnell and Boehner all need to find new jobs in 2012; they're all fired.

Obama: Ideology and Reelection campaign > Country

"Obama is seeking legislation to raise the government's $14.3 trillion debt limit by enough to tide the Treasury over until after the 2012 elections. He has threatened to veto any legislation that would allow a recurrence of the current crisis next year but has agreed to Republican demands that deficits be cut — without tax increases — in exchange for additional U.S. borrowing authority."

You're getting too involved in the political show. You need to realize that brinksmanship is part of the game. Remember Pelosi running down the street carrying that $700b Tarp/Stimulus package that was needed to save the country?

Now the GOP & T-Party are making sure that the crazy spending slows down. Social Security is fine thru 2037. Its fine long-trem with a few tweaks.

Medicare is insolvent in 2017, so that is a big mess. You're right, but some pols are trying to make sense out of it by Thanksgiving.

The rating agencies are now in the loop, so we have the AAA rating to protect, or the US is in deep trouble. Relax and enjoy the show. I don't see any default, just more "Debt Commissions".

Probably 55 - 60 who wants to see some of the $300,000 he paid into the entitlement system, w/o some socialist giving a freebie to freeloaders who didn't pay in.

    "A few tweaks...."

That's the euphemism for "tax hikes."

If congress works on jobs like they promised in their campaigns, we'd be bringing in more revenue for SS and Medicare. The House is too busy protecting the wealthiest Americans to do anything that makes sense for the country tho.

TARP and the Stimulus package were to separate entities totaling more the 700 Billion. And they were meant to do different things. Pelosi didn't initiate TARP either..that was the Bush Administration..and Boehner was selling it.

    Wants?

He wants to get rid of it.

Has been saying that for years.

This is a pretty cynical attempt to pin something on President Obama that has nothing to do with his administration.

Considering he's been paying into it for years, yeah. What are you, stupid?
