OBAMA: "CLOSE ALLY" ISRAEL MAKES IRAN NOISE
==========================================================
THE WEEKLY STANDARD
September 23, 2012
"***
"UPDATE II: Romney press secretary Andrea Saul responds:
Tonight on 60 Minutes, President Obama called Israels legitimate concern about the impact of an Iran armed with nuclear weapons noise and referred to Israel as merely one of our closest allies in the region. This is just the latest evidence of his chronic disregard for the security of our closest ally in the Middle East. Governor Romney's views stand in sharp contrast to the President's. Governor Romney strongly believes that Israel is our most important ally in the Middle East and that support for Israel is essential to extending freedom, peace and democracy throughout the region. As president, Governor Romney will restore and protect the close alliance between our nation and the state of Israel.

======================================================================
Breaking away from the similarity of his pledge to Israel with that of Romney,
Obama has declared
Israel to be a close ally, rather our closest ally, in the Mid East,
and has referred to
Israel's repeated efforts to involve us in another war
by saying that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's constant pleas
that we strike, or authorize Israel to strike iran, as
noise.
Those who regard Israel as the tail that wags the American establishment,
and those who regard
Israel and our Jewish community of politicians
as a cause of much of our
failures and involvement in wars,
may regard Obama's remarks
and those of Romney's spokesman
as being important to their determing which candidate to vote for
if they vote
in the coming Presidential election.
SHOCKLEY
