Churchill is often held up by the Republicans as an example of right wing greatness. After spending 4 years researching Winston for a book I recently published called Churchill's Secret Skills I would like to say that this view couldn't be further from the truth. In the main Churchill's politics were more Obama than Mclean.
For example Winston was the guy who instigated the British National Health Service, during the war he introduced a welfare system for the nation which continued after he was defeated in the election of 1945.
During my research I read thousands of memo's sent by Churchill during the war, the memo's painted a picture of a person who was more of a centre politician, far from his image.
Whilst Obama is a great speaker he is no Churchill he has a lot more in common with Churchill's core values than you might think.
