North Carolina just approved Voter ID as the law of the land!

If our vote is one of the most precious things a free people do, wouldnt it make sense to protect that in a reasonable way like proving who you are and making sure you dont vote twice by providing ID,,,we know republicans like to vote 3-4 times,,,

because seriously if you are not smart enough to get an ID then how can you be smart enough to know that both the democrats and republicans are liars and thieves and not vote for them???

HURRAY! North Carolina just approved Voter ID as the law of the land!

It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally here.

Republicans in North Carolina just overrode a veto by the Democratic governor and now Voter ID is the law of the land!

NEWS AND OBSERVER – North Carolina voters will be asked to show photo identification when they go to the polls next year, barring intervention by a court.

The Republican-led legislature took the final step to shrug off Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of its photo ID bill, with the House voting 72-40 Wednesday to override after a long debate that touched on the state’s history of voter suppression.

The Senate took its override vote Tuesday.

Voter ID has been a long-time goal for Republicans. A voter ID requirement that passed as part of a 2013 bill was thrown out by federal courts in 2016. Republicans steered a photo voter ID question onto the November ballot as a constitutional amendment, and 55 percent of voters approved it.

The law counts as acceptable IDs driver licenses, passports, military and veteran IDs, tribal enrollment cards, college IDs, state ID cards issued to non-drivers, state and municipal employee IDs, and a new type of ID issued by local boards of election.

People who don’t have the required ID would be able to cast provisional ballots after signing an affidavit at the the polls saying why they do not have one.

barring intervention by a court.

You can count on that happening
All those poor black "Folks" that cant get out of their house to go get a Voter ID, that they cant afford, but go to the local liquor store and play bingo, will be prevented from voting.

most states offer a free state ID card,,,FREE as in it doesnt cost anything other than your time
Exactly what the bill in MN introduced along with help getting to license center and the loons here voted it down.
A person can't function without identification and those that fail to get a simple ID are simply non functioning adults.
In other words the rank and file of the democrat party.

You have to prove ID when you register to vote why show ID again to vote? If the illegals are voting then they already have fake IDs to get a job so how is a damn ID gonna stop them from voting?

that would only work if the same person that registered you was the one that handed you the ballot,

think if your republican neighbor knew you were registered but never voted, they could go and claim to be you and vote republican in your name

Wouldn’t be the first unconstitutional sabotage North Carolina republicans have tried to impose on the state

What is unconstitutional about it?

No, they can't you have to show ID when signing in.

As long as we aren't required to have a National ID, it's perfectly constitutional at the state level.

Correct.

Once a citizen is registered to vote, and remains eligible and active on the voter registration records, he shouldn’t be compelled to document his identity again.

And noncitizens aren’t voting because they can’t register to vote – even with a ‘fake’ ID; part of the voter registration process is to verify the documents submitted, those who submit fraudulent documents won’t be registered to vote.

Voter ‘ID’ laws serve only to suppress the vote and disenfranchise voters – which of course is what Republicans seek.

Wrong.

Again, a citizen documents his identity when he registers to vote.

Someone not registered to vote won’t be able to vote because his name won’t be in the voter registration records – and he won’t be provided a ballot.

Free state IDs for those who can’t afford an ID or don’t drive and last get on with life.

How many people truly cannot afford legal ID?

That means the dead people would lose the right to vote. ACLU will bring a case for them.
Show where a dead person has voted
Show where voter ID will prevent any fraud

Funny how this voter ID thing happened in North Carolina

Same state where Republicans performed actual voter fraud in the collection and disposal of absentee ballots

At least you’re consistent at being ignorant and wrong.

If one has never voted, then he’s not registered to vote.

Voter registration records are purged of those who have failed to vote during a given period of time.

So if one is registered to vote showing eligible and active, then he’s voting consistently.

by law in every state you are required to have ID, if they choose to not have it they have disfranchised themselves and suppressed their own vote
