    This gets under my skin.

Should Ndamukong Suh been fined $15,000 for this hit? - Shutdown Corner - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

In real time, it looked like a flag-worthy hit. I don't fault Hockili for making the call; it was a bang bang play and refs don't have the benefit of slow mo review on those plays--and they shouldn't.

But then the NFL, with the aid of the slow motion review that shows it to be little more than pushing a runner to the ground on a fast-paced play, fined Suh $15K. I call bullshit.

That's only ten grand less than those two clowns who were straight-up brawling during the Texans/Titans game two weeks ago. Neither one even got a suspension, which is just ridiculous imo. I thought the league was concerned about maintaining their sportsman-like facade?

    :meow:

And then there was this concussion-causing hit on a defense-less Miller by McClain. Not even a flag. No ref at the professional level should miss that kind of hit when it's right in the middle of the play. :cuckoo:

The NFL later fined McClain $40K...

If the powers that be are serious about cracking down on these kinds of hits, they first need to be *consistent* in their message about what kind of hits are and are not acceptable. Illegally hitting a TE that causes a concussion so bad he's going to miss the next game: a little less than 3x the fine for making a legal "hit" on a scrambling QB, which is just about half the fine for throwing punches during the middle of a game. Yeah, m'kay. :cuckoo::rolleyes:

And then they need to get more forceful in their message: like a 45 minute game-time suspension, if an illegal hit caused an injury on the defenseless player.

A game-time suspension after review would do more to cut down on these hits than a five-figure fine on multi-millionaires who get in more trouble with coach for missing hits than making hard but dubious ones.

And if refs miss the flag on those kinds of hits above, then fine THEM too!

agreed ..McClain should have been suspended for like 4 weeks and fined heavily, Suh should have walked and the brawl, maybe 10k a pop.

    its ridiculous.

I am glad this was brought up.
    I agree 110%.
Right now James Harrison gets a fine if he sneezes.

It's been open season on Vick! Refs are letting him being used as a tackling dummy in the pocket after he throws passes.
It's like been cruel and unusual punishment.

I know it's lame to bump your own thread after its gone off the first page, but I had to post this nonense and it's on the same basic topic.

The NFL announced today that after a deep investigation, James Harrison will be fined $25k for this rant.

Imagine what would happen if James Harrison hit Michael Vick violently out of bounds.

The game would stop and everyone would go home because no one would know what to do.
