New gallup poll is out

Patek, I wish we would, but we are screaming about other things that are stupid (such as birtherism) and makes us a laughing stock to the rest of America. If the GOP is to be taken seriously, we need a respected Voice (that is not limbeckity), a good platform, and an excellent presentation that is respectful.

Absolutely correct.

Now is the time for the GOP to try to advance a true immigration reform package and take credit for it.

The sticky point is whether to make illegals go home and then re-enter.

Yes. They should NOT get a leg up because they came into the country illegally. They should leave and then get in line just like my wife had to.

Although quite a number of citizens feel like that, I don't think the great majority are going to insist on it if the bill also guarantees a shut down of the border. I believe the majority will concede the former to get the latter.

Democrats' Satisfaction Spikes, Republicans' Remains Scarce

The substantial uptick in satisfaction among Democrats follows the House's passage of the new healthcare bill on March 21 and President Obama's signing the bill into law on March 23 (Obama signed the revised healthcare bill on March 30). Democrats' satisfaction had dropped from readings in the mid-40% range last fall to 29% in early March. By the time of Gallup's March 26-28 survey this year, Democrats' satisfaction had begun to move back up; it has recovered to the current 49% in Gallup's April 8-11 survey.

There has been less variation in satisfaction among independents and Republicans over this same time period. Independents' satisfaction inched up in April compared to March.

ROFLMNAO...

So ya feel like it's newsworthy, to note that Democrats 'feel' more satisfied with their Party, after that Party used illicit legislative means to undermine the founding principles of America?

Great...

Then you'll no doubt feel the same way when the remaining 2/3rds of the nation; which is decidedly not satisfied; kicks the Democrat Party to the curb in November and commences to defund, repeal and replace the illicitly passed Healthcare Bill which rests as the source of that satisfaction.

PI, this has already been answered. That is not going to happen until the voting population hates the GOP less than it does the Dems now.

Even if the Republicans manage to take control of the Congress, which is a tall order, they will not defund nor repeal ObamaCare.

It's just not possible to "shut the border down". Americans aren't that naive to believe that allowing 15 million people to go to the head of the line in exchange for a promise on a piece of paper will stop the illegal alien flow into America....and it's a slap in the face of all legal immigrants who came here through the current lottery system. Reagan's amnesty failed. The only way is to have the illegal aliens leave and take their proper place at the back of the line.

You are correct...to an extent. What they will do is gut it the first chance they get and then install their own ideas that were completely ignored by the Democrats during the corrupt process to pass this Bill into law.

No one in authority said to the "front of the line." Red herring, period.

If they are placed at the back of the line after being vetted, then that is not a slap at the legal immigrants.

No one is going to round 11 to 13 million illegals. Americans as a whole will not permit a police state atmosphere that threatens the citizens. Just not going to happen.

Not a single post I made said round them up. Knock that shit off. By letting them stay here you just slapped legal immigrants in the face. They would have been better off sneaking in their whole family through Mexico into the U.S. and then waiting for preferred status in the immigration process. By "preferred status" I mean circumventing the entire system set up to allow LEGAL immigration. The only FAIR, EQUITABLE SOLUTION is to have them adhere to the current laws and leave the country. There is no disputing this whatsoever. All the rest is politics and appealing only to those people who want to divide the nation further be they right or left.

You said if the illegals were placed at the head of the line, then that would be a slap in the face.

Now you are saying if they are allowed a place in the line without leaving, that is a slap in the face.

How are you going to make them leave if you don't round them up? Possibly you don't understand they think they are as much at home as you and I do. Tens of millions of their children are citizens. They are not leaving willingly. To do what you want requires a round up. Not going to happen.

When they report themselves under whatever new law there is then they should be escorted to the border with the promise from the U.S. government that their case will be given due consideration after they take their place in line. If they DO NOT turn themselves in then they should be treated like criminals and when arrested at some point in the future for immigration violations or breaking some other law...they should be deported and never allowed back in....legally.

I see that people still support the socialist in chief!!!!! If what he is doing doesn't convince people he is a socialist then people get what they deserve. I want my country back from the idiots in charge in D.C. Obama and the dimwits have been lying to the American people since Obama first lied and said he wasn't going to run for president, ever since then then if he is talking he is lying, period.

OK, I understand what you are saying now. That will not happen, because a compromise on this issue will have to be made, and it will not favor the reactionary right. That's just politics. The far right does not have the numbers on this one to have them leave and then come back.

Actually that's a pretty mainstream view of what part of the immigration reform bill should look like. Illegal aliens should have to answer for their crimes. I think sending them home and asking them to get in line is more than fair.

You may well believe that, PatekPhillippe. But your beliefs about exit and entrance are not the mainstream at all, in my opinion. The Dems don't favor it, overwhelmingly the largest ethnic minority does not favor it, and most centrists and moderates don't favor it. So we can watch the process unfold. However it does, I hope it unfolds soon.
