Hello,

I am having a bit of difficulty finding something and would like some help. Pretty much I would like to see both yearly defense spending and yearly inflation adjusted defense spending in a couple charts or graphs from some acceptable sources.

So far best I have is this Washington Post chart. Does it seem right to you all? 1.5 million troops, 650 billion budget?

Here is another but from the same folks :(

How should I think of this? We are spending about 1% less of our GDP on the military now, depending on how you figure Homeland Security and the extra regulations we suffer through, compared to the end of the 80's so I consider that a wash given the extra regulations.

Or I can say by adjusting our spending to 2013 dollars we have been higher than the end of the cold war for a couple years and are set to dip below soon by some charts, stay up on others.

So is the summary, we spend just a little more of our money on defense than during the 80's true in your opinions?
