In addition, there must not be more than ten beatings, and he must not break her bones, injure her, break her teeth, or poke her in the eye. There is a beating etiquette. If he beats to discipline her, he must not raise his hand high. He must beat her from chest level. All these things honor the woman.
She is in need of discipline. How should the husband discipline her? Through admonishment. If she is not deterred, he should refuse to share the bed with her. If she is not repentant, he should beat her, but there are rules to the beating. It is forbidden to beat her in the face or make her ugly. When you beat her, you must not curse her. Islam forbids this.
Interviewer: With what should be beat her? With his bare hand? With a rod?
Sa’d Arafat: If he beats her, the beatings should not be hard, so that they do not leave a mark. He can beat her with a short rod. He must avoid beating her in the face or in places in the head where it hurts. The beatings should be on the body and should not come one right after the other. These are all choices made during the process, but beatings are allowed only as a last resort.
The honoring of the wife in Islam is also evident in the fact that the punishment of beating is permissible in one case only: when she refuses to sleep with him.

Sa’d Arafat: Yes, because where else could the husband go? He wants her, but she refuses. He should begin with admonishment and threats…
Interviewer: Allow me to repeat this. A man cannot beat his wife…
Interviewer: …over food or drink. Beatings are permitted only in this case, which the husband cannot do without.

KOCHI: Adding insult to injury, a Kerala college has sacked its lecturer whose right hand was chopped off by activists of radical outfit PFI for preparing a controversial Malayalam question paper with alleged derogatory references to Prophet Muhammad.
The management of the Christian-run New Man College has informed T J Joseph that he had been removed from September 1 on the grounds that he had hurt religious sentiments, college sources said on Saturday.
Joseph reacted with shock to his dismissal saying it was an “unexpected blow” to him and his family while Education Minister M A Baby regretted the management action calling it an “extreme and irrationally negative” step.
The Popular Front of India activists had hacked the right hand of Joseph on July 4 when he was returning home with his family from a Church, 30 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the gruesome attack which shocked the country.

For example, women working as domestic help are not concubines or there is a tradition in the Chitral region as per which women are sold. We should not name the [specific] area, I think. Anyway, in tribal areas women are sold; I don't consider them concubines. They are not concubines. Concubinage is allowed with two conditions if you meet the conditions as they met in the eras of Prophet [Muhammad] or of pious caliphs after him or during the caliphates after them... If you meet the conditions today you can keep concubines.

"The first condition is that if during waging of jihad the women who come with the enemy forces to support them are captured and the emir of the army distributes them, it is his discretion, we can keep them as concubines. Second, if we explore and find some market where slaves and concubines are sold and the sale is established as a social institution there, the women you buy from there will be concubine. Abducting a free woman to take her as a concubine or to sell a free woman is, I think, wrong..."

(RAWA News)- A Shia man named Naurooz has been beheaded by Taliban in Sai Ganj area of Ghazni. He was from Nahoor District of Ghazni, and on the way for business travel to Ghazni city.
This is not the first incident in this year. About a month ago, 10 Hazara Shia from Jaghori district of Ghazni were beheaded by Taliban. They were mostly students on their way to homes for summer vocations from Kabul. Taliban kidnapped them in Muqur area and found student ID cards from them. They were all slaughtered.
There are reports from Nahoor district, a Hazara Shia resident area, of Ghazni that Taliban is gaining influence in the area. Since last couple of weeks, some armed Taliban have been seen in the area during the night. They have now starting collecting tax from vehicles on the way.
Some people say the Oluswal (district chief) of Nahoor has relations with Taliban. Insurgents are offering handsome amount of money to youth in Nahoor to join Taliban. And its attractive for young unemployed persons to join the Taliban. Its feared soon schools for girls will be under threat.

(AFP)- Sakineh Mohammadi-Ashtiani, an Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning for adultery, has also been sentenced to 99 lashes for a photo published of her without a headscarf, according to her son.
In an interview published on the website of the French magazine La Regle du Jeu and the blog Dentelles et Tchador, Mohammadi-Ashtiani’s son Sajjad said they learned of the new punishment from released inmates.
He said that a prison judge confirmed that she was to be lashed for spreading “corruption and indecency” by the publication of a photograph of her without a headscarf that appeared in a British newspaper.
The Times of London published on August 28 a photo of a woman without a headscarf that it said was Mohammadi-Ashtiani, however on September 3 it said the attribution of the photo, which it received from one of her lawyers that has fled Iran, was incorrect.
The photo “… is certainly not that of my mother,” said Sajjad.
Mohammadi-Ashtiani, a 43-year-old mother of two, was given the death penalty for an extramarital relationship.
Iran has subsequently said she was also convicted of being an accomplice in her husband’s death, though she has denied that was the case.

(Telegraph)- A senior commander in the Pakistan Taliban last night announced it was planning terror strikes against targets in the US and Europe similar to the Times Square bomb plot.
Qari Hussain Mehsud, who commands suicide squads for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), said he was proud that the US had added his organisation to its international terrorism blacklist on Wednesday.
And he and promised a fresh wave of attacks that would resemble the attempted Times Square bombing earlier this year.
He spoke as he claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing at a Shiite rally in Quetta yesterday in which 53 people were killed.
“We proudly take its responsibility,” he told the Associated Press news agency by phone from an undisclosed location. “Our war is against America and Pakistan security forces, but Shiites are also our target because they too are our enemies.”
