Mosul Falls to Iraqi Security Forces

Is there ever to be a point where we either pronounce the patient dead or revived, or do we just keep him on a $$$ IV drip and continue kicking him in the ass while looking at the camera " Stay with us!!"? My grand kids would like to know, thank you.

Caliphates have been going on since 700..........they have never ended..........

History repeats itself.............In regards to how long do we fight it.............You tell me and then you tell your Grandchildren.

Anyone have any stats on how long the 2004 battle for Mosul took? I mean compared to this one.

NVM. 2,000 US troops with 4 casualties. It took 8 days and it was a stalemate.

That's where I got the info, thanks.

With 2,000 troops the first time, I'd say our military is getting damned good at what they do.
Most of our wounded and deaths came from IED's and mines. Not actual head to head combat. Our forces clean their clocks when that happens.

After a long drawn out fight, Iraqi Security Forces with Coalition Partners have retaken Mosul in Iraq. Article from Centcom praising the victory.

Iraqi Security Forces liberate Mosul > U.S. Central Command > Press Release View

SOUTHWEST ASIA – The Coalition welcomes Prime Minister al-Abadi’s announcement of Iraq’s victory in Mosul and we congratulate the Iraqi Security Forces on their remarkable progress against ISIS while making extraordinary efforts to safeguard civilian lives.

While there are still areas of the Old City of Mosul that must be back-cleared of explosive devices and possible ISIS fighters in hiding, the ISF have Mosul now firmly under their control.

“The global Coalition fighting ISIS congratulates Prime Minister al-Abadi and the Iraqi Security Forces on their historic victory against a brutal and evil enemy. Make no mistake; this victory alone does not eliminate ISIS and there is still a tough fight ahead. But the loss of one of its twin capitals and a jewel of their so-called caliphate is a decisive blow,” said Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, commanding general of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.

Iraqi Militia Forces, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and the global Coalition also deserve a share of the credit for their sacrifices to achieve this hard-won victory.
Kudos goes to the Iraqis and President Obama.
Remember whenTrumpsaid he had a " secret plan to defeat ISIS in 30 days?" Imagine you idiots falling for that shit.
What Trump has done is continue and follow President Obama's Mideast policies.
That was his secret plan.
Ha!

I'm sure the soldiers and Pilots give a damn about the politicians when they are in combat...........whether it's Bush, Obama or Trump.

Soldiers do the fighting.........not politicians.............and most of the time policies of inept politicians get them killed. Like ROE's................

That's what happens when the enemy is a bunch of cowards and sneaks who use civilians for shields. Fuck 'em and feed 'em fish heads.

Obama went cold turkey.............left Intel capabilities............and stayed on the side lines while ISIS took Iraq..............

Obama withdrawal allowed this shit to happen, and forced us to return later......only after Attrocities forced him back.
You're such a liar.
Trump Embraces Pillars of Obama’s Foreign Policy
How is that a Lie.........................Obama pulled the Fuck out and ISIS moved the Fuck in under his term. Which part of that did I miss.

Said no boots..............then put boots........Typical Lying politicians.

In regards to Trump................he has always stated that the battles should be managed by the professionals of the military. They and our troops know their shit when not handcuffed by ROE's..............

KURDS..................are some of the hardest fighting SOB's in the World now...........Our forces compared them to the Marines............in parts of Mosul ISIS met some Pissed off Kurds..............who are tired of being killed by everyone...........ISIS is regretting having to fight them.

I read the article. Nowhere did it say anything about Iraq and eagle1462010's statement is true and valid.

Obama facilitated the troop withdrawal, blaming it on the Iraqi government. His DOD also decided that it would be cheaper to leave a large portion of our military assets there, which were subsequently taken by ISIS.

After each one of these previous Isis places is captured, forces should fan out and erase any evidence that they even existed as these animals did to irreplaceable treasures of mankind.

Conservatives love to see dead US soldiers so they have some political fodder to play with. These vampires sucked on the necks of four dead at Ben Gassy for four straight years and then declared 'oh sorry, nothing to see here'. Then they martyr US dead just as Isis or Hezbollah do.

Are you serious? Who in their right mind would believe such a thing?

Wait, you're trolling, right? Because your last two posts contradict each other.

The import part is that Iraqi forces did the dirty work. Not us troops.
1600 US Military Troops were there. Along with Air Power, Artillery and Snipers.

How many US casualties in Obama's war against ISIS, vs., let's say, Bush's war in Iraq?

How many US casualties were there under Obama's presidency as compared to Bush's?

Funny how the media only wants to show the coalition casualty rate without separating out the US causalities.

For a simple mind I'm sure they do. That you can only see in huge generalities is your affair. Not to worry, there are plenty of conservatives grunters here that also cannot understand anything more complex than rock, paper, scissors. And that's fine. Just don't pretend to carry on a conversation above that level.

You're in the wrong thread.

In WWII we liberated an entire continent in about the same time frame it took to retake Mosul.

And kicked Japan's ass all over the Pacific to boot
