Mostly peaceful

Aside from a kerfuffle in the balcony involving Mr. Lincoln, it was a mostly peaceful night at Ford’s Theatre. A Mr. Booth left the stage in a huff. I will not dignify his rude remark by repeating his words here.

The highlight of the evening was the performance of Our American Cousin, a farce featuring the boorish Asa Trenchard, who goes to England to claim the family estate. This delightful program starred J.C. McCollum, Miss Laura Keene, John Dyott, and Harry Hawk, among others.

I left the theatre with hopes of a bright future filled with not-so-boorish American cousins and fewer grouchy uncles with bad ideas.
