Soviet tech died when the USSR fell, because it was 20 years out of date, such as analog vs digital. The only part that survived was weapons, because of price, knowledge, and it’s was a okay match for the small scale conflicts. But the old Soviet tech has aged badly, even with western add on’s. For Starters US/NATO got first gen night vision in the 80s, second gen 90s, we are now into the fourth gen. This is just one technology the Moscow don’t have at all. You can buy first and second gen for 300 to 2000 on Amazon!

"Let us begin with this evident fact: Muscovy does not belong at all to Europe, but to Asia. It follows that judging Muscovy and the Muscovites by our European standards is a mistake to be avoided."—gonzague de reynold, 19501 In methodological terms, one should de-Europeanise any analysis of Muscovy policy.— thomas gomart, 20062 "

You might think that low tech weapons only work well against lower tech enemies, but Afghanistan beat the USA.
