7 Things Bonobos Can Teach Us About Love and Sex | Psychology Today

"So, without further ado, here are seven things we can learn about love from bonobos, as described by Dr. Christopher Ryan:

1. More sex = less conflict.
2. Feminism can be very sexy.
3. Sisterhood is powerful.
4. Jealousy isn't romantic.
5. There's promise in promiscuity.
6. Good sex needn't always include an orgasm, and "casual" doesn't necessarily mean "empty" or "cheap."
7. Sex and food go together better than love and marriage—at least for bonobos."

Bonobo chimpanzees are thought to be this planet's most sexual species, after our own. And compared to the common chimpanzee variety, bonobos aren't nearly as violent. Because they make love at the drop of a hat? You decide.

All those countries in the Middle East always broiled in ethnic strife are filled with sexual tension, their not getting laid.

I've always felt that frequent orgasms make for a more tolerant disposition in general. Sex without orgasm, might be effective, too for some; the power of touch and all.

That depends though, if masturbation were enough there would no sexual tension in the Middle East or our prison system for that matter.

Well, the ME is caught up in a mission that nothing will stop. Prisons?? Violence there might be worse without masturbation? Just one of those things that can't be proved or disproved.

It's time for a liberal law mandating indiscriminate sex with multiple partners. To be enforced by the IRS, naturally.

Well alot of the prison rapes that occur are because of unreleased sexual tension, masturbation doesn;t seem to cut the mustard.

Consider the silliness of the common phrase, "highly unlikely."

Consider the promiscuous use of the word, "highly," when "very" is more apropos.

Almost as bad as using "quality" as a adjective.

Humans screw up screwing. Period.

Sex is a good thing.

Even in prison, sex is more about power than sexual release.

Sex with one's self is a good thing.

Not surprising that Stephanie and novasteve turn it into hate and missed the point completely.

Sounds familar...

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Wonderful and apt review of the 1998 movie version which it says differs significantly from the novel original version above,
`Brave New World' Misses The Message - Sun Sentinel

"The TV adaptation does point out that among the missing from this Brave New World are love, family and individuality. Art and philosophy also have been removed; they are "unsettling to the social good" because they might induce people to think for themselves.

The film doesn't, however, make a compelling case as to why these are significant losses. It challenges viewers to think things through, a fraught-filled assignment for a mass-audience production. It's not as if the producers don't realize this. One of Brave New World's government slogans is "dumb is good."(Coincidentally, it is presented on the same black-on-yellow board as ABC's "TV is good" campaign.)"

Couldn't help but think of Republicans there. :)

How am I supposed to continue when #1 is an outright falsehood?

As Brave New World had mandatory drug taking, you can't help but think of democrats. Worried, take a pill, smoke a joint, forget about it.
