So "Journey of the whooping crane" is on, and I'm listening to the heart tug about the loss of it's habitat as we farmed the land, and how at one time there were 15 or 20 known birds a few pairs of which were mating, and this naturalist on PBS who I ASSume to be a leftist, with a smile on his face says "I bet it had something to do with superior genetic traits that allowed these birds to propegate to where we see thier numbers today"

Or something thereabouts, but the key phrase being "superior genes", which made me say hmmmmmmm, isn't that a NAZI belief??

The government gives handouts, private charities especially faith based looks to get to the root of the issues that have a person malfunctioning in life and work to get them out of the rut that brought them there.

I was watching someone talking about the law that was up for vote in Ohio about letting a lot of felons out who had drug offenses which I generally agree with but there shouldn't be any "get out of jail free card", until a person looks at the issues that brought them there they'll be back to using in no time and so jail time needs to be a threat as well as treatment so you can have a carrot and a stick because with no threat of jail theres no motivation to stay clean.

The state has jail as a threat and beauracrats to hand out money because a person is disabled because of thier chemical issues but they never want to get to the root of the issue, that beauracrat needs clients for job security.

Private charities get to the root of things and give a different type of carrot and stick, the carrot being a bed to sleep in when it's -15 outside, the stick being you get to work in the warehouse and go to church as well as counseling sessions and blah blah blah.

Volunteers of America takes a person in and in 90 days has them a job and a place, the first 30 days you gotta find one and get a savings account, the second month you gotta show substantial savings and be in process with the apartment complex, third month you're out the door and back on your way to productive citizenville.

The state just wants dependency, one way or the other it wants you dependent on it waiting on a check, whether on the welfare rolls or as an employee who "works" for the state (if they're not off on a personal day, or a vacation day, or a holiday, or flag day, or "I just dont feel like it today" day).
