Not much really, just bought some perceived system stability.
 
I'm not a Socialist, but they're right by saying that some have become richer.
At least wealth of the public was used to secure the wealth of the rich. And the bail-out for states were in reality also bail-outs for banks as countries like Greece were indebted to banks who purchased their bonds.

I'd be very pissed if my children would have to pay for these kind of no-return "investments".

actually we avoided a massive depression by bailing out some of Wall Street and the big banks. That is what the Fed was created for.

Not much really, just bought some perceived system stability.

The M2 supply would appear to be growing at a rate consistent with at least the last 50 years

Government attempts to increase the money supply at a faster rate have largely failed.
