When you think of media and etiquette, do you think about the Democrats or the Republicans?

"America was home to great commercial traffic in the modern age of capitalism and media. However, there was also great sociocultural intrigue as pedestrians/consumers tuned into the thrills of televised/broadcasted society scandals such as the Clinton-Lewinsky Affair and the Fisher-Buttafuoco Tragedy. This made America something like a candy store. So was there any sanity to it all? The Democratic National Party (DNP) wanted to restore America's love of liberal politics which was being undermined after the strong achievements of the conservative Republican National Party (RNP). The Democrats wanted the citizenry to feel more participatory in modern politics, but the Republicans did not..."

"A socialite businessman in Gotham City named Bruce Wayne was secretly the iconic urban masked vigilante known as 'Batman.' Batman tackled the worst elements of Gotham, mostly criminally-insane terrorists and criminal underworld 'lords.' Batman had two female nemeses, Poison Ivy (an eco-terrorist) and Harley Quinn (a crime-master). He was secretly in love with both of them, but he could only court one of them (since the potential jealousy/competition between the two female nemeses would create pure chaos!), so he chose Poison Ivy. Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Poison Ivy (Pamela Isely) married and it was quite the social affair. Many attended, including Pamela's criminal-psychologist (Dr. Hewitt) and lawyer (Mrs. Sparks). However, Harley was precociously absent from the wedding and everyone knew why (she resented not being the one Bruce Wayne chose!). The DNP wanted to capitalize on this 'society gossip' so they sent representatives to 'spin' a pro-liberal pro-American culture yarn about Bruce Wayne's 'democratic choice'."

BRUCE: I'm delighted to talk about Pamela...
INTERVIEWER: Why did Batman not choose Harley instead?
BRUCE: For these socially-ostracized 'ruffians' to heal, we must not dwell on the morbid.
INTERVIEWER: So Bruce Wayne believes love will conquer all?
BRUCE: Hey, if Batman sent me Harley to pray with, I'd have done so...
INTERVIEWER: So fate chose Pamela (Poison Ivy).
BRUCE: Precisely; we have to remain discreet about fate and fortune I think.
INTERVIEWER: The Democrats have turned Pamela into a 'celebrity.'
BRUCE: If society-chatter creates political intrigue, perhaps media is cute(!).

"After Bruce gave his interview with TIME magazine, Pamela (aka, 'Poison Ivy') became the toast of the town and everyone was saying that Batman arranged the marriage between Bruce and Pamela and that she would finally give up her life of crime and seek a life of marital bliss instead, proving that love was stronger than war. However, Harley remained pensive about what would have happened had Batman chosen her instead as his 'refugee.' The DNP had taken off already and started spinning Pamela as a modern-day Mary Magdalene, and the RNP was furious that media-gossip was creating all kinds of liberal hysteria. Bruce was in his den drinking whiskey and asking himself if he had lost the opportunity to reach out to the eccentric and infamous Harley Quinn. Such is the tone of modern metropolis."

"do you think about the Democrats or the Republicans?"

To be honest, neither anymore.

Speaking to mainstream media reporting--including direct feed coverage of televised government proceedings--the behavior of neither party listed above inspires a an embodiment of etiquette. In fact, the manner in which elected representatives of either traditional side of the aisle interact, is identical to behavior between political sides on an internet message board. Political interactions these days are about the perception your side is right--at any cost; especially at the cost of truth or benefit for the American people. Barely disguised rage and pejorative rants and personal attacks are what pass for enlightened debate.
