Miss America says go Nuke

Is Ms. America a female, or a chick with a cock?

She's the real deal.

Nuclear power creates "brown sites" and we have a very difficult time getting rid of spent rods. There are pools and pools of spent rods at every nuclear power plant that are waiting for a place to send them....meanwhile these spent rods are targets for every terrorist and wannabe on the planet looking to make a dirty bomb. (Nobody wants nuclear waste material in their land or near their land)

We have a hard enough time trying to keep up with old dental X-ray machines. (Full of radioactive material) These are often sold to second world countries inexpensively....(much cheaper than trying to dispose of them)

The future of nuclear energy is in small scale nuclear reactors, if we have any common sense at all.

Mostly anti-nuke nonsense.

"We" have the easy ability to store all the spent fuel from every commercial nuclear power plant in the country, times ten. Look up WIPP. It is a giant salt deposit that is impervious to everything, and the "locals" are fine with storing the spent fuel there. (U.S. Department of Energy's Waste Isolation Pilot Plant - WIPP Site)

Of course the spent fuel can be re-processed and used again; the technology has been around for decades, but we CHOOSE not to do so. A political decision, if you must know, not a technologically-driven decision.

The reason why the spent fuel is not taken to WIPP (New Mexico) is because of the neurotic hysteria that would arise in every fucking podunk town that the trucks would roll through on their way to WIPP. That and the Democrats don't want to do anything that would have the effect of promoting nuclear power. They much prefer crippling the economy and impoverishing working class Americans by incrementally shutting down power plants that burn carbon.

Parenthetically speaking, since every knowledgeable person in America knows that Nuclear power is the single most promising strategy for reducing our collective carbon footprint, one needs to ponder why we are not pursuing that stratagem. It is ALL Leftist obstructionism, from the NRC to Congress, they simply do not want the most viable solutions, because they trade in frightening people with fears of "climate change" disasters.

But the good side of all those spent rods is that when President Joe gets us in the big war with China, there will be more than enough depleted uranium to make lots of ammunition.

It's not anti-nuke nonsense. I don't give a rats ass about politics....but I do agree with you that stupid political infighting is a big part of the problem.

There really is no true "clean power" that can be generated in the amounts we need it to be. Coal burning creates toxic mercury in our waterways and rivers. (Rosemary's Baby will be the entire next generation) Clean Coal tech (turns coal into diesel and then fuels alternator motors) is better but also generates waste. It also is renewable and uses "yellow" coal instead of anthracite. Again not a perfect solution.

Nuclear waste creates brown sites that nobody wants in or near their city. Plus nuclear power plants are targets for attack by enemies that create a huge mess to try and clean up.

Solar isn't cheap...it's actually more expensive than coal or nuclear power. Wind isn't really good either. We need the birds whether we like it or not. (Part of the eco system and wind farms are food processors for bird flocks)

Hydroelectric power is good until the day comes that there's a drought. (Nevada, California) However dams need regular maintenance as well....

What we really need to do as a society is create systems that allow us to function without the need for so much energy usage....neither petroleum or electricity.

I have no clue how to accomplish such. So in the meantime we will simply have to pick our poison and not do stupid things like mandate EVs or some other fool thing that stresses out any portion of our energy sources.

Shoot 'em into the sun.

So are conservatives advocating for gubmint subsidies for nuke plants? That is, massive socialism?

Because that's the only way they'd get built. The free market has decided they're too expensive.

If we are going all-electric (by gubmint mandate), we'll need many more nuke power plants, so I guess the gubmint will have to subsidize them.
