Minneapolis Proposes Furloughs for City Workers | KSTP TV - Minneapolis and St. Paul

In a move apparently without precedent in its history, the city of Minneapolis is proposing to furlough workers as it grapples with a $24 million shortfall.

The plan, which has not yet been approved by the City Council and therefore could still change, would initially only apply to the city's appointed, non-union represented employees, which make up about seven percent of the city's 3,600-strong workforce.

But city labor negotiators have already proposed adding furlough authority in all future union contracts, city leaders and union officials confirm, meaning unpaid leave could soon apply to a broad swath of the city's workers.

This may sting a bit. :doubt:

Cities I think should be able to furlough as needed. USPS management uses it as a tool to keep postal craft workers in line, so the managers can increase their own bonuses.

OddOne has no idea what double dipping is about or earned.,
