US Army to test driverless vehicle technology in Michigan

If the testing is successful, the technology could save the lives of soldiers serving overseas, according to officials.

Not sure about that... Driverless convoys means moving supplies around can be done without putting troops in harm's way, and you can still have an armed escort (aircraft) to protect the vehicles from attack. Even if attacked and damaged / destroyed lives will be saved.

American technology apparently gave up on trying to detect and/or diffuse IED's and mines so they are opting for non human robot convoys that can be hijacked by a couple of jihad teenagers on a freaking motorcycle and that is considered a victory. God help us.
