Mexican Citizenship Law Contradicts Anchor Baby Amnesty .

That is where this story should begin and that is where it should end! The Mexican Constitution, Chapter II, Article 30, paragraph II, states that you are a Mexican by birth if born on foreign territory, sons or daughters of Mexican parents born in national territory. There you have it! Anchor Babies are not U.S. citizens! They are citizens of Mexican according to the Mexican Constitution.

“April 4, 1997, President Sedillo of Mexico stated that “We will not tolerate foreign forces dictating and enacting laws on Mexicans. Our contention is that we are not enacting or dictating any laws on the Mexican illegal alien children born by illegal alien females in the US territory. Further, he states that “he was going to use all diplomatic and legal forces at his disposal to….protect Mexicans living in the United States.”

So it is YOUR LEGAL OPINON that Mexicans laws trump American laws IN AMERICA?

I ask because that appears to be you conclusion in this thread.

Somehow I suspect even you don't really believe that.

Mexico has its constitution; we have ours. Just because it's written in the Mexican constitution, it does not make it so in ours - but - I am for doing away with anchor babies. If they are born of illegal parents, then they should NOT be deemed U.S. citizens. Period!

Don't get too excited. What Mexico has to say about it changes nothing about the US Constitution. Nor would you want it to if you weren't all wrapped up in your emotions like this.

I think the point is that Calderon didn't want the families of illegal aliens returning to Mexico, claiming they aren't Mexican citizens and therefore not allowed to cross the border and live there. Seems he has no excuse not to welcome his people back. And Calderon relies on the remittances sent back to Mexico by the illegals living here in the U.S.

Wrong as usual – see below.

    Ignorant nonsense.

The 14th Amendment clearly confers citizenship upon any person born in the United States, regardless his parents’ citizenship or status:

Further, there is no such thing as ‘anchor baby amnesty,’ as first there’s no such thing as an ‘anchor baby,’ as those born in the US are citizens, and second illegal parents of citizens are subject to deportation as anyone else.

They are citizens of the United States according to the U.S. Constitution. You won't find that arguments based on the Mexican Constitution persuade the Supreme Court.

International law doesn't work that way. Neither does our domestic law. If you are in America, you are under the American Constitution! There are a lot of Americans who have dual citizenship.

I did not say that but since their parents are Mexican citizens maybe Mexico laws will trump American laws anywhere. Anchor babies born to Mexican citizens are also under Mexican law legally.
