MEMO To: Republicans, GOPers, RWers and Self-Proclaimed Conservatives

Actually

Democrats instigated the Civil War with their Kansas-Nebraska act(Republicans did not exist as a national party at the time!!)

Democrats argued against women rights as well.

Vietnam, in the words of Dukakis, was a "Democrat War"

Segregation, a product of a Democrat as well.

I guess Democrats were on the wrong side of history yet you suggest that "Republicans are always wrong!!"

Just wanted to point this out to you. That is all..

Democrats were the conservative party of the 19th century. Why is it so hard for you people to understand that? Are you simply stupid?

Southern Democrats were the conservative wing of the Democratic party in the 20th century.

This is about CONSERVATISM being on the wrong side of history again and again and again.

The very fact that you don't support slavery or segregation (presumably) is because the progressives/liberals of those times WON and the conservatives of those times LOST.

Each generation of conservatives becomes more liberal than the last, because the liberal victories that inevitably occur in each generation become the status quo of the future.

Conservatives fought against women's suffrage; how many conservatives do you hear nowadays that want to take away a woman's right to vote? Not many. That's because their conservative predecessors were, as usual, WRONG.

Currently and recently, for example, conservatives have been fighting to keep gays out of the military. Before long, conservatives will lose that battle, and a generation or so from now mainstream American conservatism will have NO interest in kicking gays out of the military.

EXACTLY!!!

They are just talking talking-points, not actual true or realistic arguments.

It sounds good and makes their argument SEEM sound...its not.

Its all based on lies.

CONSERVATISM has always been on the WRONG side of the tracks.

Plain and simple.

You hit the nail DIRECTLY on its head.

Kudos to you.

:clap2:

Oh that's funny. It looks like Malcolm Ex-Lax got humiliated into coming back to his own troll thread.

Modern American Liberalism is the political philosophy that is on the wrong side of the tracks, however, you dope.

Tell me what the republican platform was in that year?

Is the NAME the only thing that is important about that party of the day or today or is it the IDEAS that matter?

Preserve the Union
End Slavery
End Polygamy

It seems the first two are still going full force. i think the last one has been shifted to protecting the family.

Something else I must point out.

Due to the Civil War, Republicans became the first party to use the federal governments authority to suppress State Rights!!

I have yet to see the Republicans reverse this--although they can talk a mighty good game of it!!
And the Dems opposed Civil rights.

Your point?

That neither party is always correct, nor always practice what they presently preach.

We've never argued that they have.

So we were wrong when we wanted to free the slaves?

We were wrong when we supported Civil rights?

We were wrong when we said that Medicare was going to bankrupt us?

We were wrong about stopping communists in southeast Asia? (tell that to the millions of people who died because the left pulled us out)

We were wrong to want to stop terrorism?

You do realize you need more than say "you are wrong" to convince people that you're right?

It's not over at all. It's just beginning. You've got to be insane to think we are going to roll over and let you kill and enslave all those people.

Conservatives DID NOT want to free the slaves.

Conservatives were against Medicare.

Conservatives say they wanted to stop terrorism, but let Bin Laden go and invaded the WRONG country.

Conservatives tried to bankrupt the country with a 2.5 trillion dollar tax cut and two unpaid wars costing 3 trillion and a 7 trillion dollar gift to the drug companies.

Don't fucking lie. Sick of conservative lies and the attempt to rewrite history. Just stop.

Hey Marc... you forgot to throw "racist" out there. No left-wing rant is complete without calling those who oppose your agenda "racists".

C'mon man!!!!

Conservatives didn't want to free the slaves! Slaves were property and the Conservatives argued for state's rights over civil rights.

Conservatives didn't crusade for Civil Rights! Conservatives want to maintain the status quo and again, argued for state's rights over Civil Rights. Do you suppose it was a bunch of Conservatives who travelled the South on Freedom Rides? Was it Conservatives from east coast universities who protested along side oppressed Blacks?

And Conservatives have always been opposed to Medicare! How many Conservatives have the sand to tell their elderly parents to stop taking advantage of Medicare benefits and pay for their medical care on their own? Dip into whatever money you managed to set aside for retirement after raising your greedy, selfish children and pay that doctor bill, Mom!

And Conservatives had this crazy notion about a Domino Theory that kept us mired in the meat grinder that was Vietnam!

The OP is right. Conservatives are constantly on the back side of the curve of history. Conservatives oppose equality for women, minorities, gays and anyone who isn't Conservative.

Uh... Lincoln was a republican. So, technically they freed the slaves.... sorry didn't notice this was already covered... My bad, carry on! lol

More words of wisdom from this mental giant. Dude... layoff the weed.. it's fucking up an already overtaxed mind.

Republican does not always equal Conservative. Democrat does not always equal Liberal.

There is a distinct difference between party and ideology.

Please study some history.

Well who were the conservatives back in the middle 1800's ? Can't really say now can we...

However an ideology may change, a democrat will vote democrat republican will vote republican most of the time.

Not to mention your OP did not differentiate from any of them. it said in the title several names associated with republicans, even the name republican. The OP didn't stipulate a difference between conservative republicans or non-conservative republicans, so to do so now is a bit odd don't ya think?

If you lump them all together seems a bit unfair to try and differentiate them when it isn't in your favor...

I wonder how people will reflect on the past months when election day comes:

- The democrats helped the economy out of the recession and all the republicans did was "Say NO". Say NO to america when it was in a shape that it needed help most.

- The democrats reformed healthcare, all republicans did was "Say NO" and have parties (that have something to do with tea). To party when the america is in a bad economic shap must really show how helpful the republican base really is. The moderate americans must not have noticed it, because they were to busy working or looking for a job

- What did republicans actually achieve the last couple of months? They did not stop the healthcare bill, they did not stop massive spending (as they were guilty themselves for creating the massive debt we are in: see Bush II era and the cost of war) And yes republicans had ideas, but sadly they were to obstructionist themselves to expect an open hand from the democrats. Here an example of a bad idea from republicans: House Republicans Call for Bigger Deficits Than Obama House Republicans Call for Bigger Deficits Than Obama :eusa_boohoo:

I never mentioned political parties. I'm talking about political ideologies.

And ideologies don't change. Conservatives always favor property rights and state's rights in particular to individual rights and civil rights.

there was a Republican who fought against big business. They called him "Trust Buster" because he advocated breaking up monopolies and huge trusts. His Name was Theodore Roosevelt. He was NOT Conservative. And yet he was a Republican.

There was a Republican who used the force of the American military to put down a rebellion. The rebels advocated state's rights and the right to hold a human being in perpetual bondage. They saw these humans as property. That Republican was Abraham Lincoln. Not a Conservative.

You wonder.

:cuckoo:

The Democratics willfully violated the Constitution. They practically raped the whole basis of our governance. They used the Constitution as a form of toilet paper. And the GOP proudly and unanimously called them on it and tried to stop them.

When it comes to the improper, illicit and UnConstitutional behavior and actions of the Democrat Parody, the GOP should be VERY proud of being the Party of NO. The ONLY proper answer to what the Democratics have done (and attempted and threatened) to do IS "NO!"

After tossing his little trollish stink bomb of an OP, MarcATL (i.e., Malcolm Ex-Lax) doesn't even bother to come back and post one response to any of the replies his trollish bullshit stupid OP generated.

Malcolm Ex-Lax is such a fucking lightweight and obvious little troll.

Whatta quiff.

yea i know what ya mean...he makes a statement, you ask why.....and days later no answer but you will see thanks to certain posters along the way,so you know he read it....he has no answer i guess to my 9/11 question....but he sure made a dumbass statement about it....its like this in other threads he is in too.....

and what did the Democrats do besides CEMENT the divide in the country.....but hey you can get a free flu shot now right?....

Conservatives oppose anyone who isn't Conservative.

and Democrats oppose anyone who isnt Liberal.....so gee i guess both parties have the same attitude.....
Democrats have opposed Liberals. Big time! I refer you as an example to Strom Thurmond. He was plenty Democrat, up until he threatened the Dixiecrat walk out of the Democrat party in 1948.

He was, however, a Conservative.

For other Democrats opposing Liberals, see George Wallace, Lester Maddox and a raft of Conservatives fighting hard to oppress African Americans.
