I just read a story outlining Medicare Fraud and how seniors are being scammed into giving the crooks their Medicare card number. It seems to me that it would make sense to have a public service anouncement for the elderly, advising them on what to look for ,like Medicare will never call you to verify your Medicare number. The article also said that the Medicare fraud dept. knew the address and name of the company commiting the fraud but didn't say what they were doing about it . This is a multi billion dollar problem that is not being addressed and that all Americans will pay more for before we all loose it. Then what would we do? It seems to me that it would make sense to hire agents to prosecute these criminals to save billions instead of hiring 87000 to save a few millions from those who make $600 or mroe at a yard sale.
Maybe Biden and his cronies haven't figured out how to make $ off of this fraud or maybe it's them who are riping us off.

I am aware of Medicare fraud. There have been some recent charges ($2,5B) and convictions ($21M). However, CMS puts out a booklet every year for Medicare recipients that outlines many types of fraud and warns to never divulge your number, Medicare will never ask for it. I think much of the problem stems from the fact that these materials end up in the circular file, unread.

How many millions of people have been helped by Medicare? Infinite? Without it most cannot afford to retire. Says something ominous that some don't want it and claim it's socialism. There's nothing socialistic about it.

Correct--it is insurance paid for by the recipient during their working years. No socialism.

That's not exactly true, yes we pay in but the Gov still subsidizes a good portion of it. (As well they should)
That is how insurance works. If you total your car minutes after driving off of the lot, the value is replaced minus deductible and within the limits of the policy, even though you only paid one premium. In that case the insurer (federal government) takes the loss.

Insurance has been my career since 2000. It will be right up to until tommorrow, then I'm retired.
