Massive, illegal geoengineering project has been detected

Russ George, in conjunction with a First Nations village on Haida Gwaii, has dumped around 100 tonnes of iron sulphate into the Pacific Ocean in a technique known as ocean fertilization. The experiment, which is in violation of two United Nations moratoria, has outraged environmental, legal, and civic groups.

The iron sulphate was dumped into the Pacific back in July, but recent satellite images are now confirming its effects — an artificial plankton bloom that's 10,000 square kilometers (6,214 square miles) in size. The intention of the project is for the plankton to absorb carbon dioxide and then sink to the bottom of the ocean. George is hoping to cash in on lucrative carbon credits.

wow, good news for Oldrocks. :eusa_whistle:

Well, we need a few small experiments like this to get an idea of how this would actually work. I really don't like the idea of having to do geo-engineering. Inevitable unforseen consequences. But we may be forced to do this kind of thing if we start getting very rapid feedbacks. Particularly from the clathrates.

eco-terrorism?? Or simple cynical profiteering?? You decide...

No -- experiments like this DON'T need to be done.. Without the profit motive, we could pretty much extrapolate the results without risk of harm.

If GEORGE can do this -- you'll have navies of profiteers dumping all kinds of fertilizer and nutrients into the oceans for cash... The phoney AGW alarmists have induced a hysteria over all this to encourage this kind of stupidity..

Looks like a scene from Idiocracy....
