Making my case

I was asked to make my case as to why Casino gaming should be illegal.

1. The United States of America does not have a totally Free market economy, so you can give up the strawman that you have the right to give up your paychecks by losing in a casino, and thereby defrauding the Landlord, the Banks, the Utility Companies, Phone Companies, Internet and Multimedia and Cable companies, and failing to support any kids that you have.
No you don't have that right.
What you have is that ability, but not that right.

2. There is no way to regulate them in any way that is beneficial because it is an unstable business.
When you lower the Minimum bets, and lessen the odds of losing by having more winnable games on the floor..
You put the casino's viability at risk...
And when you do it the other way, and make it expensive to bet, cut severely Player friendly games, and add more bad bet games and increasing the odds of losing....
You make people poor, because you make the gamblers lose their money.

3. Its not just a "night out"..... its a night of ruining the local economy by either A Not being able to pay your OTHER bills, or B helping to put people out of work and developing the bad idea that you can just come back tomorrow and the next day, and the next day, and the next day, expecting the same winning results,
(which is addiction).

4. When you can't support yourself, you ruin the economy because you are took things and you can't pay for them, causing yourself to have bad credit, and causing foreclosures, evictions and repossessions.

5. It creates an atmosphere similar to that of a line of Pubs, it doesn't make a good family vacation / recreation environment, it attracts irresponsible people with personality issues.

I disapprove of gambling myself, but it's not the government's place, or yours, to tell people what to do with their money. If they wanna blow it all on slots, let them.

Yes it the governments job to tell people what they can and cant do with a Government document, which money is.
And why should the government let people blow it on slots and not be able to support the economy ?

Actually not. So long as I'm not breaking any laws, I can spend my money how I please. If it's to gamble it all away at a casino, that's my business, not yours..

and the government makes the laws, and it can and should make a new law banning it.

This isn't about what IS, but what it SHOULD be doing.

Nope. My money is my money, not the government's.

The government makes FRNs legal tender and so has complete control over them? LOL!

Sorry, no Constitutional justification for your fantasy.

My money, so fuck off, thank you very much.

The Constitution gives the Government the right to Regulate currency and Commerce.
So you fuck off, since you want to use that language.

Hi...I"m William Devane

There are many, many, paths to self-destruction.
Should the government outlaw investing in the stock market? Certainly that is gambling.
Should the government outlaw alcohol? Surely that has led to addictive types destroying their lives.
Cash flow does not ruin the economy. People gamble which in turn pays salaries, which in turn flows to other businesses through purchases of goods and services.
The government is not in the business of legislating your definition of good family recreation. If you don't want to gamble, don't do it.
Just to be clear, I am not a gambler, at least by your definition.

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

Sorry, nothing about the government having the right to tell me what I can or can't do with my FRNs.
So, fuck off, you ignorant ass.

Giving up your money and not getting it back, and not buying anything physical with ruins the economy.
