Major terrorist attack in Austria....but, don't they have gun control there?

Austria is still safer than anywhere in the US.

Not because of their gun control laws....as this attack shows......
Your threads about gun laws in Europe section is meaningless. What do you want to prove by them? That restrictions on buying and possession guns is a bad choice? The crucial point that you dont (or dont want to) understand is the difference between European and American mentalities.

For the Americans, the possession of firearms is not only about containing the criminals, but also about the possibility of the people to confront a central government if the need arises (theoretically, at least). There is no such stance in Europe. Europeans are more 'government-oriented' people, including in law enforcement policies.

No...I am explaining to the uninformed that gun control laws do not stop criminals from getting guns, even on a continent that bans fully automatic military weapons for civilians, and countries that do the same.

Fully Automatic military rifles are the weapon of Choice for criminals in France, Sweden and other European countries...showing gun control does not work.....they also like to throw grenades at each other in Sweden...

American gun control extremists......namely the democrat party, will point to Euorpe, the place where 12 million people were murdered by their governments, as a place where gun control works.......it doesn't, and it needs to be explained to uninformed Americans that it doesn't work....

You are right....but in the wrong way......

Europe is different than the United States in that they have a cultural history that came from Feudalism, and a respect for central authority. They also have homogenous societies...for the most part. This creates a low level of crime in most of those countries......it has nothing to do with their gun control laws.

The United States has a political party, the democrat party, that has destroyed the nuclear family in the cities they control.....we have children being raised in homes and neighborhoods where fatherless homes are in the majority...and this is the leading factor in our crime levels in democrat party controlled cities.

Add to that, you have democrat party judges and prosecutors who release known, repeat gun offenders, often without cash bail, often after being arrested for actually shooting people.....and they release them on bail, then give them short or reduced sentences....and it is these criminals who do 95% of all of our gun crime.

So you are right about America and Europe being different....it has nothing to do with gun control.......

If you want, I will post the links and quotes from democrat party controlled cities that demonstrate that our gun crime issue comes from democrat party policies, and not access to guns.....here for example.....Americans owning and carrying more and more guns did not increase the gun murder rate, or the gun crime rate.......this shows that access to guns does not create gun crime.....

Over the last 27 years, we went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 19.4 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2019...guess what happened...

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

Charts.......two charts, one for murder, one for violent crime....both going down as more people were carrying guns for self defense.

John Lott has published his Concealed Carry Permit Holders Across the United States: 2020 and there’s lots of good news in it.

  • The number of concealed handgun permits has soared to over 19.48 million – a 34% increase over 2016.
  • Seventeen states no longer provide data on all the people who are legally carrying a concealed handgun because people in those states no longer need a permit to carry.
  • Permits for women and minorities continue to increase at a much faster rate than for either men or whites.
  • Five states now have over 1 million permit holders: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Florida is the first state to have over 2 million permits.
And more. On personal note, I’m proud that my own state is one of those with a million-plus. That’s particularly impressive, because the last time I checked, we were only around 700,000; about 1 in 8 adults.

Other goods news is that chart above. It shows the murder rate has declined as the CCW rate increases. That’s not news to TTAG regulars, but it’s nice to see it confirmed for yet another year. In case some gun-grabbing type wants to argue that the murder rate trend is really almost flat, so it doesn’t mean anything, take a look at the CCW vs. violent crime trend. Concealed carry is up while violent crime down.

But the trend is even more noticeable, to the point where one cannot honestly deny it.

One attack. This shit happens 10 times a day in the US. Because you have so many guns.

No, it doesn't. We had a total of 10 mass public shootings in 2019, you doofus.
How many in Austria ?

1 every 3-6 years.....

America...population 330 million.

Austria...population 8.5 million.

10 mass public shootings in the U.S. in 2019, 76 people killed...in a country of 330 million people and 600 million guns with over 19.4 million people actually carrying guns for self defense...

Do you see why you have no point?

Of course, restrictions on owning guns dont stop criminals from getting them. No one can argue with this.

The Democrats want the US to be more like Europe in regard of governing and social policies. So, the statistic provided doesn't really matter. Their actions arent about gun control per se.

And out comes the cutnpaste.
You don't like dealing with actual data instead of feelz?
If guns made you safer the US would be the safest country on earth. It patently isnt. Process that FACT ya dumb fuck.

If guns made you safer the US would be the safest country on earth. It patently isnt. Process that FACT ya dumb fuck.
And yet you can't refute the reality that, in America over the last several decades, more guns =/= less safety. When you can do that with facts instead of feelz, go for it.

All criminal death by guns? just over 800,000 since 1939.

Death by government in Europe... over 12 million since 1939.

Yes...America is safer than Europe.

Americans also use their guns 1.1 million times a year to save lives from rape, robbery and murder according to our CDC........

The shooter? Was a man sent to prison for trying to join isis.....a convicted criminal who got a gun, even with the gun control laws of Austria.......Likely on a terrorist watch list too...

4 killed 22 injured...

Yeah, they released him from prison like all leftist garbage does.
Austria has a Right wing Government, sorry to burst your bubble.

So. If they let criminals out of prison it doesn't matter which side does it.

It seems to matter a great deal to you.
