Just a few large Corporations control almost everything you see in the MSM. And they enjoy a very close partnership with the Government. The Government/Media Complex is very disturbing.

Media Consolidation: Six Companies own 90% of American Media: GE, Disney, News Corp, Viacom, Time Warner, CBS.

Media Consolidation vs. Fragmentation: Action Steps for Government Communicators?

Right now we are seeing increasing fragmentation/personalization of the news through the pervasiveness of web-based outlets. At the same time, a few large companies own the vast majority of American media:

1. Fragmented/personalized media

According to the Pew Research Center "State of the News Media 2012" survey:

* Revenue is down for network TV, local TV, magazines and newspapers but increasing for online TV, cable and audio (meaning radio or streaming web audio)

* 54% get news on at least one "digital, web-based device"

* 9% of U.S. adults "get news on any digital device very often through Facebook."

Americans argue Fox vs. MSNBC like its some kinda' Sporting Event.

"We're #1!"

Yeah, it's very unfortunate most Americans have no idea that most information they receive is tightly controlled by just a handful of powerful Corporations. The Government/Media Complex is every bit as dangerous as the Military Industrial Complex is.

Funny that 5 out of 6 of those are far left.

THIS is why Citizens United is the ONLY thing protecting freedom. Lose that, and you might as well have the leftist media directly appoint our rulers.

I think it's bigger than Left/Right, but i agree it does mostly lean Left. I think that's due to most Socialists/Progressives being fanatical Globalists. They're definitely all-in on the NWO Globalist agenda. So it makes sense that most of the MSM would lean Left.

You two are saying that all 6 of those extremely conservative corporations are actually liberal?

Oh wait, this is that "anyone who is not an acolyte of Rand is a liberal" thing you guys do. Never mind.

Which ones are conservative? Corporation doesn't equal conservative, contrary to what you have shoved down your throat on a daily basis. Disney, GE and Time Warner are definitely not conservative companies.

5 out of 6 are hard left. Viacom = the Daily Show. GE (used to) = MSNBC, Time Warner = HBO and all their leftist bullshit and Time Magazie. CBS = Showtime and all THEIR leftist bullshit. Disney has ABC, notorious for leftism.

Only Newscorp offers anything center to right. Of course the main pages of the WSJ were recently rated the most liberal in the nation. Even Uselessrag (USA) Today was more conservative.

{They find some interesting answers: most of the media does have a liberal bias (throwing out the editorial page, the Wall Street Journal is the most liberal of all, even beating the New York Times!). Fox News is one of the few outlets that is right of center.}

Freakonomics; Danny Kahneman; New York Times; Wall Street Journal; liberal; conservative | Media, disrupted

"Conservative corporation" is redundant. Of course corporations want the status quo to stay status quo. It's what keeps them alive; nay, it's what they thrive on.

Here's the problem: If GE owns a media network, and it also owns US 'defense' contracts and nuclear power plants, then that media network's coverage of US 'defense' and nuclear waste issues are going to be affected adversely.

Here's the other problem. A NewsCorp or a Viacom or a TimeWarner owns a vast array of television and radio, but also newspapers, magazines, book publishers, internet sites, unrelated cable channels, movie production houses, even sports arenas. And when that corporation controls so much of the public forum, it can literally dictate what the news is and what it isn't.

All this sideshow about "this program leans left, this channel leans right" is just bread and circus to keep the unwashed who aren't paying attention from thinking of paying attention. Red and blue puppets, controlled by the same hands.

But pay no attention to that man holding the strings, look at the cute puppet teams! Pick a side and cheer them on. Look at the stage, nothing to see up above...
