Satan's Credibility Problem
From the Washington Post
February 3, 2006

Can you have one without the other? Maybe it's just wistful thinking, but far fewer Americans say Satan exists than believe God is real. Likewise, people are less certain there is a hell than a heaven, particularly Democrats and political independents.

Do you believe in:

God: 93 percent
Satan: 70 percent
Heaven: 89 percent
Hell: 75 percent

Percentage of each group who believe:

There is a heaven:
Republicans: 94 percent
Democrats: 89 percent
Independents: 84 percent

There is a hell:
Republicans: 88 percent
Democrats: 70 percent
Independents: 67 percent

I think people's disbelief in Hell and Satan comes from this notion that Satan was made up by the church to scare people into behaving.

And by secularists who refuse to acknowledge evil is more than just a concept of being "mean" to people.... :tng: J/K

When people started pretending there was no such thing as "truth," they pretty much kicked aside any other inconvenient ideas, like "Hell" and "consequences."

Evil is a result of man's actions.
