Could you live in a place like this? 1,600 miles from Guam and 2,000 miles from Hawaii. Don't lock you doors – ever – and kids can go outside to play unattended any time they wish. Awesome scuba diving but one problem – a Burger King, Subway, and a pizzo joint that often run out of fresh produce and no sit-down restaurant. You want something? Need to order it from a long ways away.

Oh yeah, no stoplights because there are no cars.

But, people keep volunteering to come back.

Oh HELL yea ... the only problem is the airstrip ... people might actually visit.

I had a job offer in Honolulu once but upon further review I turned it down because even Hawaii is too isolated for me.

I have no desire to live anywhere besides the continental USA.

Kwajalein, the wife turned down two contract job offers there, the job was unaccompanied which meant I would have to be approved (if there was available housing) to go and pay my own way and we would not have been able to bring the cats.
