MSNBC's ED SCHULTZ MAKES BOLD CLAIM THAT U.S. HAS ‘NEVER HAD A CIVILIAN STOP A SHOOTING’

  • In December, 2012, Jesus Manuel Garcia opened fire at a movie theater in San Antonio, shooting and wounding an innocent 49-year-old man. An off-duty sergeant then fired four shots with her firearm, wounding the gunman and preventing any further injuries. In this case, the female who stopped the shooting was trained by law enforcement

  • On Dec. 11, 2012, a man shot and killed two people in a mall in Clackamas, Ore. before taking his own life. Nick Meli, a concealed carry holder, told KGW NewsChannel 8 that the last shot he fired after seeing his concealed handgun was “used on himself.”

  • Winnemucca, Nev., 2008: Ernesto Villagomez opens fire in a crowded restaurant; concealed carry permit-holder shoots him dead. Total dead: Two. (I’m excluding the shooters’ deaths in these examples.)

  • Appalachian School of Law, 2002: Crazed immigrant shoots the dean and a professor, then begins shooting students; as he goes for more ammunition, two armed students point their guns at him, allowing a third to tackle him.

  • Santee, Calif., 2001: Student begins shooting his classmates — as well as the “trained campus supervisor”; an off-duty cop who happened to be bringing his daughter to school that day points his gun at the shooter, holding him until more police arrive.

  • Pearl High School, Mississippi, 1997: After shooting several people at his high school, student heads for the junior high school; assistant principal Joel Myrick retrieves a .45 pistol from his car and points it at the gunman’s head, ending the murder spree.

  • Edinboro, Pa., 1998: A student shoots up a junior high school dance being held at a restaurant; restaurant owner pulls out his shotgun and stops the gunman.

Unfortunately, all the examples you cited, the shooting began before they were stopped and two of the stoppers don't qualify as civilians.

Unfortunately, you truly are an idiot of epic proportions:

1.) How can you stop any criminal activity before it starts?!? Even law enforcement can't do that... :cuckoo: It's completely illegal for an individual to be detained by law enforcement without a crime having been committed or probable cause.

2.) You're desperation is pretty pathetic when you have to claim that "two of the individuals do not qualify as civilians". If you're not in uniform on the clock, you are a civilian. Furthermore, this is just a couple examples of thousands and thousands of real life examples that happen many times per year all over this nation.

Not anymore!

The Patriot Act eliminated 4th Amendment protections where "probable cause" was codified. And the MCA and NDAA both made it legal for anyone to be pucked off the street and indefinately detained (without charges) and all that is required, is that they be declared an "unprivilaged enemy combatant".

Shultz didn't say criminal activity, he said shooting.

If an enlisted man gets a 3-day pass in Zaragoza, Spain and decides to go drinking in The Tubes in his new Hawaiian shirt, is he a civilian?

So then why didn't law enforcement stop James Eagen Holmes in Colorado? Why didn't law enforcement stop Adam Lanza in Newtown?

How can these people be declared "unprivilaged enemy combatant" if they aren't on the government's radar? :cuckoo:

Furthermore, in your desperation to make a point, your proving gun control isn't necessary. After all, law enforcement is now empowered to stop any and all crimes (which includes shootings) before they happen according to you.

At no point was military personnel in international locations brought up. The discussion was about civilians and law enforcement personnel off-duty on American soil. But thanks for playing :)
