And under the assumption that legalizing prostitution will make it safer and better for the victims....

This time, they fell for whoring. Germany, in a move that stunned even the scandalous Italians, decided to turn itself into Las Vegas, and now the English and others are worried. The Germans, like everyone else caught with his pants down, had an excuse. They said they did it to protect women. Too dangerous on the streets with pimps and such, so they decided to move prostitution into brothels.

What happened next was obvious. A large surplus of abused and ruined women, usually abandoned or molested as children, many of them from Bulgaria and Romania and already mastered by pimps, flooded the country. Mega-brothels opened overnight. The number of Johns increased exponentially. Prostitutes became a mainstay at their carnivals; mega-pimps became nouveaux riches; and the German people, once known for alcoholism and Nazis and other hilarious monkey shines, became known for taking advantage of Europe's unfortunates. Even when the Germans are helping people, they're hurting people.

It's estimated by the German government that 400,000 such hookers live in Germany and that 90% of them, one way or another, are still forced into it. That's five times more prostitutes than are estimated in England.

At first, the going was "good." The hookers saw an influx of cash, and it was estimated that if you couldn't save a nest egg, you could maybe feed a family. Money was being sent back to feed starving mothers and fathers in Romania. The Johns came in, on "good" nights, sometimes 15 to 20 if you were lucky. But then something happened: the market became glutted with whores. Brothels opened next to brothels. The smallest towns had their bordellos. The number of Johns per woman dwindled, and the hookers themselves began to get desperate.

I don't know about legalizing making things safer, but if I can do something for free, I should be able to do the same thing for money, too. Especially if I can do it for money so long as I'm filming it for distribution. :p

Maybe Germany needs to do a better job policing it's brothels?

If two people want to exchange money for sex it’s nobody’s business but their own

This isn't what is happening...these women are being trafficked.

Sex slavery is an issue throughout the world including here in the States.
And legalizing it doesn't make it go away. It makes it work. Nevada in the US has a huge trafficking rate, because traffickers go there, as the law allows them to hide in plain sight.

Houston, Texas is one of the largest Sex Slave trade centers in this Country, so legal or not it matter not.

If crimes are being committed at a huge rate in Nevada the law isn't doing its job. I wonder why...

The law that allows prostitution allows traffickers to adopt a legalized front. They still traffic.
If there is a huge rate of trafficking and if trafficking is illegal the law is not doing its job. I wonder why. What do you think the reason could be?

Still, should it be illegal?

Guns are used in most murders in America, should they be illegal?

It is better that sex workers have available the protection of civil, criminal and labour laws.

Well, the Germans - along with the rest of Western Europe - are nothing but Islam's national prostitution whores. So if you want to know all about prostitution, I think Europeans could tell you more about it than fellow Americans.

That is the point the article is making, they aren't anymore protected than they were before, in fact, the policy has allowed pimps to act in the open. Crime writer/screen writer Andrew Klavan talked about this on his podcast...he researched the brothel in Nevada....the one where the guy ran for political office and died....he said the girls who work there still have pimps, still get abused, but the brothel and the t.v. show gave it a veneer of credibility...
