The First amendment is a Judeo Christian concept.
How is an amendment to keep religion out of government, a religious concept?
You aren't familiar with the scriptures, so I am not surprised you don't know. Freedom of conscience is a clear judeo-Christian concept. One of it's earliest incarnations is mentioned in Joshua where it states "Choose this day whom you will serve."
The covenant relationship between man and God is voluntary. Government cannot force people to enter into the covenant relationship, nor enforce the covenant. Only allow people to enter it freely.
All right I have to call bollocks here there was a time when the covenant was enforced at the end of a sword... Granted they do not have the power to do this anymore; but being under threat of eternal torment is hardly a decision free from coercion. The only choice the Judeo-Christian concepts give you is to submit or fucking burn.

America never was a judeo-Christian country, if you consider the first amendment as being at all important.
As such, for many conservatives, the Establishment Clause solely prevents the establishing of a state church, not from publicly acknowledging God and "developing policies that encourage general religious beliefs that do not favor a particular sect and are consistent with the secular government's goals."
Sharia almost aways becomes part of the government, that's where the first Amendment should be used to stop it...

The recognition that previous concepts of God have been at best childish will certainly permeate future life. All religions will have to evolve enormously or disappear. A deity holding every fearful creature's hand just doesn't fit with the reality modern knowledge presents.

America has always been a Judeo-Christian country with 79.6% (247 million) people today still self identifying as Christian/Jewish.America never was a judeo-Christian country, if you consider the first amendment as being at all important.
This is a glaring argument from popularity. The popular religion among the population doesn't change the constitution, or what it decrees about the functioning of our state. Therefore, the opinions or positions of the population have no bearing on our government, unless a democratically elected majority changes the constitution. Barring this possibility, the population could be all Buddhist, or Muslim, and this would still be America, if the constitution is still in play. Christianity has nothing to do with America being America. Your ego is so massive as to claim this.
