KS Governor vetoes income tax cut/sales tax increase

The Kansas legislature overrides Kelly's veto of the Republican income-tax-cut/sales-tax-increase plan, fails to override Kelly's veto of the Republican transgender athlete ban. It's important to appeal to the base and take stands in the culture war and all the rest, of course, but when the moment comes for truly pushing votes, the state Republican party's real priorities have always been clear.

A sales tax, imo, is always a tax on the poor.

Same thing happened here in WV. After the governor goaded the House into voting they voted 100-0 against the idea. He said he was going to take his plan to the people but so far he's not done squat.

What is a fair share? 20% of their income? 50%? How much of the tax burden would be fair? 50%, 70%?

"Fair share" means absolutely nothing, what one thinks is fair another might not. Yet, no one will address this issue. I believe claiming what fair share is would ruin the whole debate, this is a rich vs poor debate and once lines are drawn, politicians can no longer use it as a wedge and divide their citizens.
